I got in my stand this morning around 6. I didn't see anything and it was 8:45 so I decided to move stands. I was walking to a tripod we have set up and the field it looks over there was a big buck with a doe. I managed to sneak in unnoticed. Everywere I looked thismorning I saw bucks chasing does! The rut is on! The big buck wasn't chasing her as much as fallowing her. She was heading right for my feeder and he was 10 yards behind her! They got to about 50 yards from me and then they took off! bang I don't know why! The doe got nervous and the buck followed. She didnt wind me. Very upsetting!! I saw so many deer thismorning though it was an awsome hunt! My dad got a doe so we got some more meat!
Oh yea this is in Freestone County

Why so we have an imbalance in population? I for one have never found a way to eat horns, but I have an easy time eating doe meat.

Looks like you will be eating good toning!! nice kill!!

We are not allowed to take does starting next weekend so this is our last chance. Trust me we have PLENTY of does right now for the bucks 1 isn't goin to effect them at all.

I think it's better to take the does early also. If you shoot them before they're bred then the big bucks have a better chance of breeding one that survived the season.

Congrats on the hunt. Hunting with your Dad is priceless.
