Hey guys and gals. I hunt in Uvalde Co. north of 90 off 55. I am about 7 miles from the Nueses and I have seen turkey about 2 miles from where I hunt. I have a huge dry river bed that I have my feeder set up on and a small spring that hold water year round. Pool is probably 5 feet by 20 feet and about a Lab's back deep. I figured we would have turkeys coming in, but have never seen or heard one in the 3 years I have hunted. Any opinions on why or what I might be able to do to draw them in? Thank you!

Do you have anything for them to roost in? I would say roost trees but those crazy turkeys you guys have will roost in anything. Power poles, tall gate posts, TV antennas. On one place I hunted out there, the evening scouting consisted of sitting in the back yard and counting the gobblers on the power poles that were 150 yards from the camp house. I love those Texas turkeys.

This river don't go to Aintry.

How close are you to the llano river? I hunted in Kimble & Edwards county for years and the turkey on our ranch would start to migrate towards the Llano river bottoms around October and would spend the entire winter living in the bottoms where there was more food and water for them to survive on. The state park south of Junction is closed in the winter months to protect the flock. Which in years past has number anywhere from 500 to a 1000 birds...

Well if they have everything they need on the other side you probably will not get them to cross. You may get an occassional jake to wonder your way but not sure about anything else.

HEY!!! Who's turkey's you calling "Crazy"???? BTW, you left off Barn roofs and heavy machinary. We had a dozer that was stuck on our property for a couple of months and about 4 birds decided the top of the cab would be a perfect roost! laugh

Hey Bama, check out my pig kills in the Bow Hunting section.

LOL, some of the Texas turks will "take any port in a storm" to roost! Power poles were the norm on a ranch we used to hunt near Pandale in Crockett County.
