I know that this will open a large can of worms and the popcorn will be flying around but i am going to ask anyway.

The wife said i could get new truck and maybe a lift to it as well. My past 3 trucks have all be Chevy and this time i am just doing my shopping due diligence. So here is what i am looking at in no particular order and just want some honest opinions.

2007 Silverado/Sierra crew cab Z71(new body style)
2007 Toyota Tunda Crew Cab 4x4
2007 RAM Mega Cab 4X4
2008 Nissan Titan Crew cab 4x4

As you can see I have not listed a Ford as i am not very impressed with the F150 and the wife will not let me a diesel.

It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

I did buy a dodge, doesn't mean I wasn't impressed with the fords I mentioned....
If I had the money to buy a brand new truck, I would have gotten a lariat/king ranch 4x4

I have been thinking about getting a new truck. I have a 1999 F-350 diesel right now and it has 186,00 miles on it and I cannot bring myself to trade. I cannot afford another diesel and do not feel right buying a truck that gets 16 MPG gas when the one I have now gets 18-22 depending on if I am pulling a trailer or whatever. If I were to buy now, I would probably go with the Toyota Tundra crewcab. It is supposed to get 22 MPG, and is supposed to haul a trailer like a spotted ape and will hold a ton of payload in the bed. The commercials say that and I talked to a man that pulls with them and he says they are great. GMC 100,00 mile warranty would be hard to beat.

I wouldn't care as long as it had a Cummins.

I'd consider a Ford. I have the 1997 with 185K on it that gets 18-20mpg, and a new 06 that I love even more, and its getting 21mpg. Tons of power, runs and drives better than Chevy's (yeah, everyone else around has one, I've driven them many times). I'd looked at everything and ended with Ford.

I have an 04 Tundra double cab and it is the BEST TRUCK I HAVE EVER OWNED. Not sure I am in love with the new ones though. Funny thing is, those JAPS sure know how to make a truck that will last.

You aren't kiddin' you've opened a can of worms!!

Here's my two cents. I just bought an '07 4x4 Tundra and had an '06 before that ('06 got totaled). I don't really care as much for the '07 body although it's growing on me, but I got the 5.7L engine and man is it nice. Has a 6 speed tranny and get better mileage than the 4.7L did. When it comes to 4wd it's hard to beat a Toy. I had total confidence in the last one to get me anywhere I wanted to go. Haven't had a chance to try the new one out in the dirt yet!

By the time you get a 1/2 ton truck and put a lift on it, you could probably afford a diesel. Majority of 1/2 tons have IFS and IFS lift kits can get expensive. JMHO.

Also, diesel is starting to be cheaper then gas is in some areas.

toyota tundra - would probably be the most dependable and best chance at a better resale value down the road. the power from the new big engine is incredible. BUT, they are expensive and they are within price range of a dodge cummins. jmo

I have an 04 f150 super crew, bought it new has 84000 miles on it. Took it in to get the front end aligned due to the tires balding on the inside. The repair man said that looks like what we call in the business a ford front end special basiclly the front end is already out, No grease certs on the upper and lower ball joints. Sure enough once on the rack I looked and he was right. Good new is aftermarket has grease certs, bad new I'm going back to Dodges or toyota.
Best freind has a tundra. 210,000 miles never had a single problem.

I love Toyota and I love diesel. That is why I got myself a Toyota land cruiser BJ40. It is 78 and had never let me down. The beast would go anywhere. Here is a pic.
Toyota last for ever.

same thing happend on my 98 with 150,000 on it. but, in the long run, i think i can get antother 150,000 outta it. guy said fords actually have the strongest front end, cept for the dodge 1500 with the dana 44.

here is another thought,a 2500 4X4 is going to have a stiffer suspension and they are pretty high to begin with so save your money on a lift and put that amount towards a 2500.Diesel engines last a lot longer than gas engines and if you pull a trailer diesel would be your best bet BUT you are the one that's doing the buying and good lock.

I am going to put in my 2 cents. I have a Nissan Titan. I love it. The power is amazing. I have a 2x4 non towing package but will still tow over 7000lbs. I can get over 19mpg on the highway and 15 mixed.
Pro comp make a 6 in lift for them that is a no drill or cutting install. There is a another comp called PRG Products that has some really good lift kit packages for the Titan.
The new 2008 have the option for a 4 door crew cab with a full size bed so you dont have to sacrafice cab or bed space. The power ratings are actually lower than what they really are. Mine put down 277hp and 344lbs of torque on the dyno and its a 2005. Only mods are a hi flow muffler and the timing has been advanced 2 degrees.
The 2008 Titans have VVT heads different intake and different exhaust. It helps with the power and the max torque is reached at a lower RPM.
Another thing to consider is the resale on all of the vehicles. I like the older style tundra better than the new and read some articles on Edmunds and Motor Trend that the new Tundra motor was not getting any better than the other full size trucks.
If you want any more info on the Titan I should be able to answer alot of your questions.
Good luck on your search.

I don't know of any one group thats harder on trucks than west TX pumpers, the majority of their time is spent off road at high speeds just beating the beejesus out of their trucks. The 1 truck thats out performs, out sells and holds up better than all others is the GM 4x4's.
