I'm looking for a .22 LR pistol for plinking and fun shooting.

I'd like to keep the price down, and would like a gun that feels like a "regular" pistol, be it a revolver or a semi auto.

The two I've looked at (that are in my price range) are the Walther P22 and the Taurus 94 revolver.

Anyone have any opinions on those? Any other suggestions?

The Walther's are nice, but not as accurate as I like in a .22 pistol. My vote would be for the Ruger MkII or MkIII with target barrel.

I have an old Ruger MK II with a stainless target barrel that I've been shooting since about 1983. Ever had one of those guns that you would never even consider selling? Undoubtably the most accurate handgun I've ever owned.

I have a Walther P22 and love it. It does prefer high velocity ammo.

I've looked at the Rugers and the Browning target pistols.

They're not really what I'm after.

Anyone have any experience with a Sig Sauer Mosquito?

Go look at the Beretta Neos .22 pistol. I was looking at getting a .22 to cut down the cost to go to the range, and this pistol had plenty of good reviews. It also has a decent price.

The Mosquito is finnicky in my experience. I have a P22 that has been decent. My son loves to shoot it but I still prefer my Buckmark.

Problem your gonna have with the Sig Mosquito is they dont run anything but CCI Mini-mags--I had one and tried every kind of ammo I could find,, ran mini-mags thru it without fail--I got rid of it because I dont want a semi .22 that I have to rely on one specific ammo for it to run....Have a Ruger MarkII competition Target slabside that runs anything I put thru it...Cant go wrong with the Rugers...

I got a Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR at Academy about 8 years ago for about $140. Once I sighted in the fixed sights, it is a cool single action. It also came with a .22 Mag cylinder. Check those out if you want a wheel gun. up

I have a Sig Mosquito that I enjoy plinking with. But it is no where near the quality of other Sigs. It'svery finicky about which ammo it likes. I recently acquired a Browning Buck Mark and it shoots so much better, it makes that Sig feel like a toy. Although I enjoyed the Mosquito before the Buck Mark, now I think I will try to sell the Mosquito.

I've got a Taurus 94-4 revolver, had it for over a year now. Great little shooter up up. No problems at all with it. I'd recommend it.

I have a Walther P22 with literally thousands of rounds through it. I would guess around 6000. It is a great little pistol, but not the most accurate thing in the world. I can hit a 6x6 steel plate with every shot from 7 yards though.

My dad had a buckmark, and I really like it as well. If I was wanting to do more serious target shooting as opposed to just bangin plates, I would go with that.

I have the mosquito and mine is pretty accurate, but as stated it really only cycles the CCIs consistantly. My Ruger Mark IIs are really accurate, but you said they were not your thing. If you happen to have a Glock 22 try to find the .22 slide for it. Mine is supper accurate and functions flawlessly with any ammo.
