Congratulations on your decision. I think every law abiding citizen should be armed.

The only thing I can add is to check and see if they have ammo restrictions at the range where you qualify. When my Son took it, the indoor range didn't allow fmj ammo so everybody had to use expensive hp ammo to qualify. Yeah, the price difference in 1 box isn't all that much but I suggest that unless you shoot all the time, that you make 3 or 4 trips to the range and shoot the course for practice. All indoor ranges have the targets and can tell you the qualification routine. When you get on the range with everybody, that practice could very well keep you from being overly nervous. My wife and I had shot the qualification routine at least a dozen times before we took the class so it was just another day at the range for us. Some people were so nervous that they were spraying the target at 3 yards.

Practice doesn’t make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.

I have some friends who offer a CHL class, (they are former Navy SEALs and Special Ops guys) When you sign up to go through the CHL class you also get 1hr inside their shoot house with them teaching you how to use that gun you want to carry around. I would highly suggest their class if you want a learning experience not just sitting in a classroom for 8-10hrs.

If anybody wants more info, send me a PM.

Quail Creek Shooting Range on 1171 just WEST of I-35 has them often. Go to their website. All the info is there. It is just north of the Racetrack. Nice place
