count your blessing....

I'm not seeing anything at my feeders due to the heavens opening and dumping the worlds largest acorn crop all over my lease.

I remember reading about a pre-rut lull in late Oct. it obviously doesn't happen everywhere but it is a known occurrence.

I have property in the Hill Country where the deer used to line up to eat, easily between 20-25 deer every time the feeder went off. I now have the feeder barely even going off because no deer are coming and it's just bringing in more stinking hogs. Please come quicker cold weather, going to be quite boring watching nothing opening weekend.

Same here and it's no surprise with all the acorns this year.

Deer don't have to move far at all to find food, and until they start getting into the breeding mode you can count on not seeing many deer until later in the year after the frost has killed off the browse.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Until the acorns are gone don't expect alot of activity at feeders, simple as that.

Acorns and more acorns, hot, dry and full moon. Had a 6 pt, who was totally safe here (antler restrictions) walk with 10 yds of the feeder yesterday evening without taking a bite. Until something changes I may just go fishing.

The does are your bait. Be glad you have them coming to the feeders. Once the rut starts guess where those bucks are going to be...........visiting those does by the feeder.

I thought I would be blessed because we don't have oak trees but we do have 80 acres of cotton. I never knew deer liked cotton so much. It is nothing to see 12-15 deer out in it during the early mornings or late evenings. Pretty tough to hide in it because it is not that tall.

We had a huge acorn crop here but the deer are still inhaling over 700 lbs of corn per week thru 9 feeders. We don't have hogs.

we haven't had that problem but I would say acorns are the culprit

May be time to leave the stand and feeder, and do some scouting?
Deer are still moving, even if it's just to find their favorite oak/acorn tree.

I guess my acorn crop was not that good this year. I have deer all over my feeders. The big boys walk right past them, but the does, younger bucks and pigs are hitting it hard

I have bucks, does, and hogs all hitting my feeders hard. And we have plenty of oak trees; lease is in Hamilton County.

Its slow around my feeder in Parker County but I do have some does and bachelor groups of bucks coming in. Things will get better later in the season.

I hunted this past week. Tons of acorns just like everyone else. However, we have plenty of deer, both bucks and does coming to the feeders. At times it seems like the bachelor groups are busting up, then I get cam pics with 4 bucks at one feeder on a regular basis. I have come to think nothing is a set way, it just is what it is at any given time. Some days they like acrons, some days they like corn. I'm in an AR county and stuck a nice, old man 10 on opening weekend...just watching the other hosses now.
