I've got to run 600 or so yards of 3/4" poly hose for a water trough. The way they recommended at TSC was to use male/male plastic joining pieces with hose clamps, but that didn't seem to work for my neighbor when he rigged his that way. The hose seems too rigid for the clamps to compress down on the fittings. Is there any kind of glue or cement that would keep the pressure from backing the fittings out? This line will have to run downhill, so I'm concerned about the water pressure separating the lines. Thanks!

I had to do a similar project a few years ago to irrigate a remote pecan orchard. It might sound too easy and just plain dumb, but if it's to be a permanent hose of that length, coat the plastic male-to-male barbed connectors with "Marine Goop," assemble the hose and stretch it out in the sun for a day before using it. You'll have to cut it apart and ain't no way water pressure will break those connectors loose. You'd split your hose first.

edited to add: You'll still want to use hose clamps. You might get by without them, but I wouldn't try it. I'm nowhere near that lucky.

edited again: does it HAVE to be 3/4" or can you step it up to 1" at the start of the line? I needed pressure in my set-up, but you're just filling a trough.
