Does anyone know of a good place to go on a two day hunt for $150 a day or less? This might be the only thing I can afford this year times have been tough for me, so I want to make it count. I have had my own deer lease for the past 8 years and had to let it go.So I an trying to get at least one good weekend this year.

You might want to look at some doe only meat hunts or maybe some hog hunts. I always thought that if I couldn't have a lease I would hunt Type II land. I do hate the thought of hunting with John Q public. It is bad enough with people on the road but in the woods with everyone armed???

I have never heard anything good about that place. No way that area supports day hunting like that. They have been doing that for years.
Do you care if you only shoot does? You can find several places to take does for meat for $150 or less. Doubt you can find any place for a decent buck at that price. If you want does PM me and I'll give you my buddies #. Will see a ton of deer too.
Personally I get the most satisfaction sharing the meat after the season. And I always run out.

Like said above, I would be looking more towards a meat/doe hunt of some kind. We have been doing doe hunts for the past couple years just because the deer population on our ranch hasnt been providing the harvest that we would like.
My suggestions...
Dont try to find someone who makes money on day hunts. Look for someone who has a managed ranch and needs does taken off. We have been hunting several of these in the past couple years and have even built a relationship with many of them, they keep up coming back, because they know that we will show up, kill our deer, pay him, and make a clean kill. Most of the places we go sell hunts because their hunters dont want to shoot does, but they need to be taken, so the owner doesnt want you to come out and not get a deer, he will do all he can to get you one. Just talk to the people on the phone, you will know shortly weater or not you are being lied to.
The deals where you pay 150 bucks to sit for a day and shoot whatever you see are a joke.

I have a friend that runs a day camp in Desdamona south of Ranger Mountain. Last time I talked to him,it cost $150-$175 per day including cabin that sleeps 6. Is on 450 acres with feeders and stands. No still hunting allowed for the hunters safety. I will call him. Send me your' phone number please.

Hunting pressure will be great most places that day hunt are going to be hunted and shot hard this year and in years past. If they allow anything to be shot that is legal you will not see many deer if any at all. I would look for a doe/spike hunt and start there on a managed ranch needing deer removed.

I think you can find a place, just be warned, some places that are way to cheap, are cheap for a reason. Hope you don't get burned and best of luck to you.

Well, my friend in Desdamona is too busy running Luckenbach and is letting the land rest for a few years.
