How many of you have applied for a permit in Kansas and got drawn the first year? I have been told two different stories, one hunter has applied for 3 years and still has not had his name drawn but another fellow has had his name drawn for 4 years in a row. How has your luck been?

I've applied for the last 4 years and have never been drawn but then again I'm trying for unit 16 which is probably the hardest to get.
Some of the units in the north and east part of the state had some tags avalible over the counter last year.
It all depends on which unit you're trying to get drawn for.

Your odds are good there. You'll probably get notified around the first week of July.

I've got drawn 4 out of 5 times for unit 11. I change my preferences each year, one year first choice firearm, next year first choice archery, since I started doing that I have been getting drawn. May be luck or the fact that if you don't get drawn for one choice you gain pref points for the other???? Sounds good anyway. I haven't recieved my app yet, sent em an e-mail. I heard that they where thinking about going over the counter this year or first come first serve.

Got my app and have already sent it in. Got lucky and was able to get an over the counter tag last year. Now.. IF I can just draw out for this year..... bank

Shouldn't have to worry much about drawing tags next year. They're doing away with T-Tags, but raising the amount of NR tag permits as much as 100% in some units.

Kansas is a great place to hunt . If you are trying to draw a tag you will have to wait as there is not much public land. If you want to pay a outfitter you will be going this fall.

Just did mine on-line. They said they usually have several left over for unit 11 or A-9 but I would have to do the draw anyway. Guess that blows my above theory. I did firearm first choice, archery second choice, you can hunt with either firearm, blackpowder or archery during the firearm season (if you draw firearm). This way I can do the early muzzle loader season then when I go in November for the firearm season I can hunt the first few with bow and if it comes down to the wire I can pull out my trusty 300 win mag.
