With the solitary boars, it depends more on what they have been eating than on how big they are. Shoot him and find out. You can put the meat on ice in a cooler for 3 days in salted water. Change the water often and keep adding ice and draining water. This helps a lot.

Good Hunting,

Too big to be good to eat. Good Coyote bait.

He is big enough to shoot. It is hard guess on them the are built like a tank. I am guessing about 250lbs.

I don't think there is a size restriction when it comes to whether a pig is shootable or not. Looks to be around 200lbs or so. Mud will tack on a few extra pounds. Either way, definitely shot him.

As for eating it, it all depends on how it smells after you shoot it and are about to process it. I have shot BIG boars that were well around 300lbs and they ate great. Then I have shot a nice little 100lb sow that just STUNK and there was no way we'd eat it. So, it really just depends on the animal.

I'm not sure how much he weighs but you need to add about 150 grains to his weight.

I see others paint the feeder legs or stakes they hammer into the ground with a 1" strip of white paint at 12" from ground, then 24" and then 36" so they can estimate the height of the hog.

If the feeder leg is at a slant you need to measure from the ground (NOT at the base of the feeder leg) to get the correct 12" height from the ground.

no way he is any less than 200, he's gotta be pushing 275-300, big ol pig! I've heard the same about some of the some of the little 100lbers being the nastiest of em all. One that big is gonna be tough to clean but if anything he should make some good sausage....food

He'll be light as a feather when you shoot him and about 195 when you load him. He's an eater, too. He's been at that feeder before. He's better fed than most feed-lot pigs.
