Coyotes always since we have a bounty on them; rest of the bunch, mid-late November depending upon when we get a good round of constant colder temperatures or when we see the fur at its prime.
Difficult finding any fur buyers out there anymore, especially those within the state and I don't dry & stretch my hides since I'm not set up for it.
I sell all my coons and meat to one individual who gives me $15/coon regardless of their size. Can't beat that and I don't have to skin them either.

Yea, last year i couldnt find a fur buyer at all but ended up selling some of my graf fox on taxidermy.net for $20 a pop. Didnt think it was too bad. There use to be a guy that came around these parts from Lousiana that bought coons for the meat and took them back to Louisiana with him. Havent sold any coons the last 2 years though. I dont trap for the money though, I love the challenge and the satisfaction you get from knowing you outsmarted the animal.

$15 a coon. That's great for you. I wouldn't share that secret. I get $8 each. But it's true that the market is still crap. In 3 weeks I'll be at it fulltime.

Where is this person who buys coons for $15? If you don't mind me asking. Met this gentleman years ago and the only way I could sell to him was to purchase his Fur Dealer's license for him so it would be legal. He then sells the meat. This year, it's $20/coon and I couldn't do that skinning and selling the hide at the Auction and then the meat to a buyer.

How many u want kyotee, ill sell em to u for 13 a coon, and deliver em... lol... Want anything else, yotes, squirrels, rabbits... i got a bunch lol.. I took over 30 coons off one lil 17 acre place last year with 2 traps running em only on the weekends. Pretty confident i could do it again. and, i could set more traps.

I have 400 acres that I would like to try this at. 5 0r 6 years ago I started out with cage traps and the last 4 years ive been really interested in using legholds. Everything ive learned is from trapperman.com, reading and just trial and error has been the best teacherfor me. Its a great wayto get out and do something fun.

i use both, but im hesitant to use my leg traps very often because i dont really want to catch a calf... However, ive gotten around this problem by setting inside a fence like a hay patch, or along a creek or something. Also have started putting the leg hold traps under something, or up on a tree branch. I was able to get a koon or possum about everytime i set the trap, so it didnt seem to affect it. However, i was over run with coons at the time.

I'm not a buyer and unless I had a Fur Dealer's license, I could not buy from anyone and you would require a resident trapper's license in order to sell to a licensed buyer.

You might want to refresh yourself on the rules & regulations for Texas; game animals may not be sold or purchased since you wanting to sell squirrels.
Reckon you'll learn some day.

Its been a few years back but I use to pay, I think $18 for my resident trappers license and if I was lucky I made $4 to $6 for coon hides and about the same for coyotes. Bobcat was the only thing that paid well, a good spotted pelt could bring as high as $200. The fur buyer was out of San Angelo and he would only meet if he was in the area and you had a bunch to sell.
