Why do people do this? They aren't goats. Not even close. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Horace Gore at the TTH Extravaganza in Ft Worth. There were a lot of people around looking at some of Mr Gores pics of Pronghorns. Someone looking at the pics said something about goats and I thought that old man was gonna whoop him right there. He blew up. Before that, I never really thought about it. But since, It kinda bugs me too now. I never will forget it. "Pronghorn aint goats". I was curious to yalls thoughts.

they have a tendency to stay in the same area of a ranch and wheatfields and graze the grass to the ground and will wear a wheat field to the dirt , theres the goat part. i've called them speedgoats all my life and still will - thought horace was a whitetail expert

Folks call antlers horns all the time, yet there is a difference...antlers are shed each year, horns aren't. As long as you know what someone means, who cares.

Quicker to type and say speed goats IMO

We should just call them "animal with antler made of hair"..since they shed them

actually a lot of the taste on those depends on where they where shot.

Shot my on our range land...could barely clean it or eat it.

Wife shot hers on our farm land alfala, corn and wheat and hers was actually pretty tasty

Kinda the same as saying "Rattlin' Horns" for a set of antlers used to rattle in whitetail bucks. We all know they are antlers.....just a cultural thing I guess.

This one was shot just behind the left shoulder...given the opportunity I'd prolly shoot'm in the *** and let'm run off and die...It was like eating cedar flavored jerky...without the jerky taste.

They official common name is the North American Pronghorn Antelope, but they biologically aren't goats or antelope. They are a gazelle. Regardless, hunting one on opening day is as easy as falling into water out of a boat. However, two weeks into the season the same can not be said.

if you skin them within 30 minutes of being shot, they wont have the sage taste.

Its all in the cleaning and preparation. They can be a very tasty meal

As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind...Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks--Thomas Jefferson

Mine was cleaned and skinned in under 30 minutes... if you want one that doesn't taste like sage then shot the ones in the alfafa fields.
