Back from the cone and had a blast. Found out 2 things. 1 I'm not as young as I used to be and 2 the mountains are taller and steeper than they appear! Stayed at Lonecone Outfitters but did the self guided hunt on public land. It was slow the first few days, no bugling Bulls, took a few days to find them. Finally got a cold front and a little snow up on the cone and they started to turn on. Had 3 fairly close encounters, once had 3 different Bulls coming in and what a thrill that was. To hear them bugle and chuckle and run across the fallen Aspen with there hooves clunking the wood. Sounded like a freight train coming down the hill. Then the wind would swirl and we'd get busted. Just enough action to get me hooked, and I will be going back. Can't say enough about the folks at Lonecone, great hospitality and great food. Bet I gained 10LBS from all the great food! Here's a few pics I took on the hunt.

Used to hunt the place across the CR from the precinct barn. Right at the head of Disappointment creek. Good times
