I looked up for info online but couldn't find much.. I was thinking about buying it but them again don't know of the quality and accuracy and value as well??

Please let me know anything about this gun if u can..

Serial number is 232418 if that's helpful..

Depends on a lot of conditions. Assuming it's in good shape and it's the caliber you want and the serial numbers mostly match and you can get ammo to fit the use you have in mind and the bore isn't frosted or pitted, about $100 unless it's something special that can be restored back to military configuration. A dark bore is usually okay. As a MILSURP, it has no value since it's been sporterized. The scope adds no value at all.

Look on gunbroker and see what comparable rifles are selling for. Be sure to look at completed auctions.

Oh yeah, these are just my opinions.

Thanks for the info.. That's kinda what I was thinking.. It's a 30-06 so caliber is ok.. Yeah I looked them up on gunbroker but couldn't tell the difference and the prices were all different..

Thanks again

You may be looking at what is known as a "low number" Springfield 1903. Check this out:

There is some evidence that the heat treating on several hundred thousand of the earliest 1903's caused the receivers to be brittle. Common wisdom is that these rifles should not be shot.

Slick has the info you need, all that was seral numbered 800,000 and below wasnt heat treated right just by eye and just worth wall hagers.I have one that is in the 9s and they are 30.06 if not re-chambered and very accurate.Mine was made in 1918. I like mine alot.Worth about 300-500.00 depending condition.

What type of condition is it in? Those guns can go for $100 all the way up to $500.

Are you sure its a Springfield 1903? Several companies made the 1903.

If they are sporterized then yes, they loose a lot of value. But thats not a bad thing if you want a hunting rifle. They are some of the strongest actions out there. I have a sporterized one made by Remington and have killed I don't know how many deer with it. Its been sporterized by a pro and it's a work of art. With a nice maple stock and I recently had it reblued, its one of my favorite rifles.

If its in good shape I say buy it if the price is resonable.

Yeah it's for sure a Springfield.. And it looks as to have been sporterized by some one who kind what he was doing.. It is a sharp looking rifle.. Looks almost new.. A liitle wear bilut not much.. It was passed down to him and he has also killed slot of deer with it.. I'll have to think about all the info I'm getting before I decided to buy it..

Is there a stamped star on the barrel?

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Sometimes the stocks on the sporterized ones are worth more than the actual gun. I had one in .280 that I sold in 1995 for $800. On the other hand, I've seen them at gun shows for $150. Just depends on the overall condition and quality of gun.
