I was in the Mineral Wells Walmart the other day buying some ammo and the clerk in sporting goods said that Walmart will be selling rifles and shotguns again.

She said that the executive who discontinued the sale of guns is no longer with the company and his replacement has decided to sale guns again.

Anybody else hear this?

They have always sold them in Burleson. Its not an executive thing its a store to store thing. They also sell them in the Cleburne store, but not in the Midlothian store.

The one in Gonzales has been under remodel lately and from what I was told the other day, they are supposed to start back selling them again at our store.

There really isn't anyone else that sells in our area so I'm kind of glad to see them selling again.

I agree with Sig, it depends on if there is enough people around to buy them; and mostly low end stuff anyway.

I dont buy guns at walmart

It doesn't matter to me if Walmart sells guns or not.
I prefer to spend a little more and support a local gun shop.

Rustler, I am inclined to agree with you. Try having a discussion about a particular firearm with the owner of a small gun shop over coffer vs having a discussion with an uniformed clerk at Wally World.

Check out the last sentence in the first paragraph.

http://www.chuckhawks.com/walmart_firearms.htm

Plus, when I have purchased a firearm at Walmart, I felt like I was treated like a criminal. They escort you to your vehicle with them having your newly purchased firearm in their possession, in addition due to their policy, I was unable to purchase the ammunition for the firearm. However, it is perfectly OK for you to go back in the store and buy the ammunition from the same clerk. Granted, it has been several years since I have purchased a firearm from WalMart and their policies may have change.

For me, I'll just keep going to the little old gun shop I am used to.

Same here. There just is not one that is local around where I live unless I drive for 40 minutes. In that case I will go ahead and drive a hour or so to Cabelas or whereever to get what I need and moer choices because neither of them have what I want.

Walmart's gun prices can almost always be beat online and they don't have anything I want these days. I did like the Walmart exclusive 10/22 with the 22" barrel they offered a few years ago.

Yep, they don't sell guns in the hood. I guess no one can qualify to buy one in certain areas. I would call it this policy "Firearm Redlining" . The Walmart near my office (I-30 & St. Francis) stopped selling guns about 3 years ago.

They never stopped in Marble Falls and Copperas Cove I know of for fact. But it was real hit or miss last time I was down in the Houston area visiting family.

Well, I guess I was lucky. I've purchased 2 rifles from Wally World and they were fine.

Something I've noticed over the years.

Walmart comes in, sells guns. Once all the gun shops around the area go out of business, they remove the guns from that store.

If I'm going to support a major chain store, it's not going to be walmart. I'll buy guns at Bass Pro or Cabela's first. I prefer to buy guns from local gun shops, but those are becoming hard to find these days. (Gunbroker is really putting a hurt on some dealers now.)

I live in between Porter & Cleveland Texas. Last year, the Cleveland Walmart had more hunting gear/stands than one could imagine, but did not sell guns. It really surprised me to see that the Cleveland store did not sell guns. The store in Porter had a lot less gear but sells guns. Go into the Humble Walmart and they hardly had any hunting gear. It has to be demographics & management decisions.

One of the stores in the Waco area that used to carry them stopped doing so. One store never carried them and the other store still carries them.
