i have posted on here befor about this problem but still cant seem to figure it out. Our ranch is and the Llano Mason county line the north end and in the past two years we have seen a massive massive drop in the deer population. on a normal night of coon hunting we used to see 25 30 + deer now we are lucky to see 1 or 2 and this past season was horible. i know the blue tounge thing was near but i know it did not get that far east. the areas around us have accually decresed in hunting preshure alot. There is one more thing a moutain lion has been spotted acrosse the road from us i have seen his track befor but like 3 years ago. let me know if yall know if yall know any thing.

I hunt near castell, and I haven't seen that much of a decline. Last two years I seen a slight decline, but I feel thats b/c we have had a dought last two years the oat feilds aren't as good as they normally are. But I did count 65 deer last week of the season on one oat field. Also there was a 148 b/c 9 point shot off the place this year and the niehbor got a 154 B\C 10 pointer. I think alot of people around there are trying to improve the herd by shooting more stags and does.

How is your water supply during very dry years? Deer will migrate to dependable water during a severe drought. Big cats take out deer but they also cover a very large range. If a cat was eating all your deer you should find some sign of it.
