I got a guy on my lease that's workin' some fairly big Bucks. The only problem is, he hunts near a 6' property fence and can't get the Bucks to come over. He has 2 feeders in sight of the fence, and pours corn along the fence, they just won't commit. I need some ideas to help this poor guy. What's your recommendation for this time of year for that situation?

Wait till the rut gets closer and keep the doe in that area and the bucks will come across when the rut gets closer.

I told him to get a Doe decoy and dress her up real trashy and put a bunch of make-up and a wig on her.

Well, this time of year he is probably bow hunting. So he is a little closer than within sight of the fence. On my place he would either move of the fence or find somewhere else to hunt. But then we get along well with our neighbors.

Well, this time of year he is probably bow hunting. So he is a little closer than within sight of the fence. On my place he would either move of the fence or find somewhere else to hunt. But then we get along well with our neighbors. We get along great with our neighbors. They just don't want us hunting on their place. He's got a great spot on our back fence. He hunts next to a tree covered pond. There's a pond about 60 yards across the fence that is in the wide open. I would think Deer would prefer his pond. The neighbors don't hunt near him so that's not a problem. He will have Deer later in the season no problem, he's just tying to get these big boys over the fence for a shot during archery season. He has never killed a Deer with archery tackle. He's about a truck length from the fence, these Dudes come up to the fence and just look into our place for hours. Yesterday he had 5 Bucks bed up on the fence line about 20' from him. They just won't commit. What will make them come over? He's afraid he's too close to 'em to do any calling.

If it's only a 6' fence that is no sweat for a buck if he really wants to get over it.
Just tell him to feed like crazy on his side and get the does to coming in and use some doe in heat scent during the rut.
A little horn rattling might help also.
If a buck wants a hot doe on your side that 6' fence will be like a 3' fence once a bucks nose detects a hot doe!

go to a low spot in their fence (AKA...a gate)...and pour a corn trail all the way back over to the stand set-up. It may be 5-6 miles of corn, but it sometimes takes a little more dedication to get those bigger bucks.

Deer are not that dumb. I am on a property where they haven't hunted deer in 40+ years. Hunters next door low fence do the exact same thing you are doing to draw them over. By pouring corn, milo, acorns, etc.... the deer have become alert and go into night mode. Yes, they usually do tag a buck annually. But the big boys aren't that dumb. I'm gonna tell you exactly what I tell them. You wanna shoot a big buck you adapt to them don't expect them to adapt to you.
So in short you're pressuring them and the will go into night mode.

is the fence yours, or theirs? If it is yours, maybe a ratchet strap hooked to the top and bottom wires, tightened enough to make the bottom wire higher off the ground, and the top wire(s) lower would give them a little easier passage?
If the neighbors see it, they will get pissed, but if it is indeed "your" fence, they can't do much about it, can they? Or put in a gate in that area and open it when you get ready to hunt...

I think it is a matter of too much pressure. Maybe move the two feeders further away and out of sight of the fence and hunt a trail the deer use to get to the feed. Deer feel the pressure of a man made staging area, and may be reluctant to come near (especially old, smart deer). If the deer are hanging this close to the fence and the guy's feed, they must know it is there and probably feed there at night. Back off and make the deer feel more comfortable and ambush them on their way to feed. Also, (just in case he hasn't) check your wind.
A bad day hunting is better than a good day doing anything else.

I see potential for a great experiment in east TX. lol go to a low spot in their fence (AKA...a gate)...and pour a corn trail all the way back over to the stand set-up. It may be 5-6 miles of corn, but it sometimes takes a little more dedication to get those bigger bucks.

The fence was a joint venture between him and our landowner. I think. I sure don't want to start a war with our neighbor. He has been good to us. He's let us come over there and look for wounded game. He even helps us, if he's not busy. I still like the Doe with the make-up thing.

Deer are curious and if they cant see the feeders and only hear them go off maybe they will come over to check it out.

Is it the north or south fence? Only ask, because you sound like my neighbors.
Actually, you don't. I'm pretty sure my neighbors don't mind that fenceline if they can't see my truck.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
