According to some of the locals, indians reportedly buried gold in the area where I hunt in East Texas. If there comes a time when you never see another post from me again, you'll know that I found it.

And I'm sure there are some here who for that reason, sure hope I do.

I've tried but the ridges are so steep and choked with big cedars that you spend all your time crawling on your hands and knees.

Anyway, I was at one edge of it one day looking for arrowheads. I saw something green at the bottom of the ridge and discovered that it was an old, folded $20 bill. I got to looking around and found a few more. I worked my way up the ridge and found more money caught in the rock and brush where it had washed down the hill.

About this time, I'm envisioning a dead body up the ridge with a whole box of money. I looked and sniffed (you never forget that smell) around the area for a couple of hours and never found anything else. A few of the bills were in such bad shape that the bank wouldn't exchange them for me but it's the first time I ever got paid for a days hunt!

Should have kept looking........It might have been DB Cooper. grin

Or maybe it was bait, and i was the hunted.

So i walked up to it and opened, only to find a cooler full of iced down Miller Lite! I laughed and quickly shut the lid and went about my scouting.

Well on my way back, the cooler was still there. So i looked around again, and saw nothing. Then i yelled out for anyone near to show themselves, or acknowledge their presence. Nothing. I then yelled out that i was gonna help myself to one of their beers. Grabbed me one, took a big swig, and yelled out thank you and went back to my truck!

There was only one logical explanation for this strange occurrence.

It was Bigfoot's cooler of beer, and he drinks Miller Lite!

It was a big buck hunting men, he decided you needed a few years so he passed on you.

That looks like a game camera strapped to that tree to the left of the road. Did you smile when you got a beer? laugh

Hmmm i woulda figured the big buck would not have wanted to pass on a 26 year old, 6'4" 240 lber. My neck was big and swollen too from all the females i was soon to be in pursuit of later that night. cool

As a matter of fact i did smile, and i did look somewhat closely for nearby game cameras too. What you are seeing on that tree is just 2 white stripes painted on it. No camera.

Not while huunting but while fishing I heard someone maoning like they had been hurt. Me and my fishing partner hurried to where we thought the sound was coming from. My buddy yelled areyou ok ? The moaning stoped. Im sure you cantell where this is going but at the time all we were thinking is someone is hurt out in the woods. We looked around for about 5 mor minutes then we saw the two scurrying away towards their vehical that was on a dirt road about 50 yards away. If we had just been mor quite we would have caught them in the act !! roflmao

While trotlining one time, I found a green bag with some kind of chemical warfare/ gasmask thing in it. Kind odd in my opinion. I've also found a gravesight of a man scalped by Indians, and a $50 bill at the gate to the place I hunt.

Ikendrick -- if you watched "Breaking Bad", you'd know, as I do, that the gasmask was probably dropped by someone who used it to make meth!

I am a fan of the show as a matter of fact. I just never thought of it. However, I did find where some meth cooks disposed of their leftover ingredients on the property next to mine. Talk about creepy.

I found a poacher asleep in my blind. I very quietly took his gun and pulled out the bolt, put it in my pocket and set the rifle against a tree and snuck off to watch him and see what he did. I still have that bolt. My land, and he wasn't one of my hunters, so I suppose it was MY bolt. If you want your bolt back, come and get it. I don't have a Remington 700 in .30-06, but I have an important part of one.

^^^ that took some self control... if i went to my stand on MY private property, and there was some poacher in it he would have gotten a lot more taken from him than the bolt of his rifle. i am pretty amazed that you didn't "escort" him down to the ground until proper authorities got there. once he's unarmed, that's EXACTLY what i'd do!

I was turkey hunting a few years ago near Paint Rock,Texas and I was waiting for my buddy to pick me up on the sendero. So I decided to lay down on the side till he got there. A few minutes later I felt something looking at me or staring at me. So I open my eyes and all I could see were two pointy ears facing me. I couldn't really tell for sure so I moved my feet and the set of ears moved a little.Sure enough there was a fox at my feet. It was pretty dark . Being from south texas I thought it might be a coyote, till that point I had never seen a fox. Luckily i had my 12 guage still loaded. Needless to say the story ended with a bang.

Last year in S. Texas we were picking everyone and we to go look for a yote that a guy had just shot. There was a God aweful smell around in a particular area. I didn't exactly want to investigate. The blind name was called 'dead lady' since an old grave with a lady was found there. Guess her spirit or kin was in the bushes.
