What is the best method on constructing feeder pens in sandy area? I had a buddy try T-post and barbwire, but couldn't get it tight due to it pulling the T-post. Any suggestions, as I need to construct one during opening bow season?

Sink your T-posts deeper.

Hey, bro.. I had that same issue. I couldn't get the pen tight. So I used 2 T-Post around each feeder leg, and drove them in DEEP. I then used steel cable and wired the T-Post TIGHT around the feeder legs. If they knock it over this time, I'll be grilling T-Bones that night!! LOL

You could buy the tall t-posts and drive them deeper I suppose, and use cattle panels with them, however panels can get expensive quick depending on how big of a pen you want to build.

you either need to stretch off of a tree or sink the thinck 6" posts in sack crete, say abou 24 inches deep to stretch off of, you still have time to do this as they should set up within a couple of days, I'd give it a week. Even in good soil if your trying to stretch your wire off a t-post they will give. it would be even better if you bought or put together an H shaped post. I have a Triangle feed pen stretched off one tree to a sunken post. Othewise you just wont get the wire tight, we use three wires and it does a pretty good job, been up for about 15 years

If you don't run those T post in at the same angle as the legs and splint them together tight, hogs will still bow those legs out.

That sugar sand can be tricky! I use panels on all of mine usually 8 and make it a round pen if you can.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to try and use barbwire as I still want the few hogs that I have to have access. Just trying to keep out the dang cows. Since they showed up, I went from seeing lots of deer daily to not a one.

really the only way for barb wire to stay tight is to drill holes and put at least 1 2-5/8 post in each corner if cows push on the barb wire they'll pust t post over i've built a lot of fence and really h- braces would work best but cattle panel won't pull on the t post so if you use them you don't need pipe just t-post
