I bought the .22 mag bolt action rifle and a new Redfield 3-9x40 for it. I took it to the range awhile ago and sighted it in at 100yds. What a good little shooter!! I was averaging 1" MOA at 100yds. I tried 3 different brands thru it and they all shot about the same MOA. The POI was different and that was understandable since 1 of them was 5gr heavier.

Can't wait to see his eyes when he unwraps it Christmas Day!!

I'm sure he'll be tickled to death he got a "real" gun this time.

I've read and heard nothing but good things about the CZ's. I'm very pleased w/ it also.

What model did you get ..an American?
Always wanted a couple of CZ rimfires from full stocks, HB's to Silhouette's ... mebbe one of the these days.
Be sure to check out www.Rimfirecentral.com and the CZ board to see some interesting aftermarket stuff for serious small bore shooters other accuracy loonies like me.

I'm not exactly sure on the model number (don't know too much about the CZ line of firearms and would have to look at it to find out). All I know is it is the bolt action w/ a steel magazine, a walnut American style stock and w/o sights on the barrel.

Sounds like an "American"..., lacquered stock, slick high polish barrel and no iron sights too I'll bet. Some of those guns have some outstanding heavily grained quartersawn Turkish Circassion Walnut under all that that goopy stuff but it is a real chore to refinish one...and the goopy stuff will wear like cast iron which is good for a young'n.
I have a 550 long action centerfire that is tempting to refinish but I ain't THAT bored yet.
Ya did good for the kid! and this'n will be a nice step up to a centerfire.

The stock appears to have a light satin finish on it. It's not a high gloss finish or what appears to be of an laquer to me. Not sure that this one is kid or adult proof. I have seen older ones that appeared to have laquer on them, but this one doesn't. It may only have an oil finish.....not sure w/o really lookin' it over better. Don't want to do that and the kiddo see me w/ it.....he was w/ me when I bought it for a friend!! wink
