I'm trying to decide on whether to pick up bow hunting in the near future. After reading a lot, my perception is that there may be a significant amount of time spent on bow adjusting/tuning, changing out parts that wear easily (fletching, brushes on rests, etc)and general maintainance. Is this the norm or do most of you consider your bow "low maintainance" after a correct initial set up? Thanks for any opinions!

Most of the time any work being done to my bow is just for personal preference, not necessary work. Set it up properly the first time and you should have very little up-keep.

Set mine up this year after being out for 15 years and other than adjusting the sight pins I haven't doen anything to it. Now I am planning on buying a new bow next year and then I think tweaking will commence, normally I tweak on everything I own except for the bow I have now.

I think I have my bow finally setup and unless I change arrows or sometthing, I should be able to draw and go. Now I plan on getting a new string after the season which will mean completely retuning everything but otherwise you shouldn't have to do too much. The initial setup is where you spend huge amounts of time but once you get shooting good you should be able to leave the bow alone.

Unless you're like most people and end buying new stuff to put on your bow. I changed my sights and rest so I had to almost start over from scratch.
