Well guys, I traded my Encore in for a new Browning X-bolt Stainless Stalker. I'm VERY pleased w/ this rifle so far. I wasn't sure I'd like the composite magazine, but it is made so you can seat the bullet close to the lands if your a reloader.

I got another .270 Win. Got to buy another .25-06 someday since I traded the .25-06 barrel also.

No loss other than money and time at the range. I'm very happy w/ the X-bolt. No tears shed on the trade.

Welcome to the Browning Brotherhood.
Have you had a chance to shoot some groups with it yet, or are you still feeling it out for loads?
In regards to the magazine length-yep, I can seat most any bullet all the way out to the lands, and it will still fit in the magazine.
What I really notice about the Brownings is the way they balance. It is a fast handling rifle that you can just throw up to your cheek and it's in the perfect position to shoot. Love them.
A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.

Not the first one as you know and won't be the last!
Got a 1/4" 3-shot group at 100yds so far. Have a 3-shot group at 300yds at 3 1/2". Need to shoot it at 200yds to see how much drop there is before season.
Will head down some weekend evening to shoot.....interested still?

The thing that bothered me most was the 3 different colors of stainless. The trigger guard is brighter than the receiver and the barrel is duller than the receiver.
I think the price is a little steap for the stainless stalker, but am happy w/ it's performance (never had an issue w/ any Browning so far). I remember the A-bolt Medallion being $550, but has an awesome walnut stalk and fancy engraving. The stainless stalker is pretty plain w/ a synthetic stalk and composite magazine. Would've bought another A-bolt Medallion and have enough $$ left over for over half down on another A-bolt.

If that true probley I think I may just get the blk barrel.. I spent 3 day in pouring last week and not a speck of rust on my maxus

My stailess stalker has a "Dura Coat" on it and they have a note in the box not to use harsh chemicals on the barrel, action etc. I guess the coating can be removed and ruin the durability.
I thought about a black and blued, but I'd think it makes the rifle look too plain. I love blued and wood though!! Especially nutmeg laminated w/ blued barrel!!

Are the barrels blued or coated? I thought coated. I'll never own another gun thats not coated via gunkote or Cerakote..ect

I'm not sure if the blued barrels are coated or not. I do know the stainless IS coated.
