Why does it seem that bowhunters sometimes give off a , im better than you attitude. I see this quite a bit. Just becuase you practice more and Maybe have stuck a few more animals (if any). It is no doubt that bowhunters are some of the worst brand snobs out there. Why is this?
It sorta reminds me of a duck hunter or bass fisherman

Maybe im wrong, but I kind of sense this feeling sometimes.

There are several people on the bow hunting section that are very opinionated. I do not consider myself one of the snobs because I rarely state my opinion, but when I do I don't act like a know it all.

No , just in general. Its seems like there are alot of 1-uppers in the sport and I just wonder why.
In my little mind I have no doubt that bowhunters that have actually stuck something think they are better than gun hunters.
No big deal, just wondering.

When you bow hunt, you get to shoot from real close... What's the sport in that?

Well I'm sorry some of us have given off that vibe to you. I for one have never hunted deer with a rifle, after two tours of Nam seeing what I've seen the last thing I ever wanted to do again was shoot something, regardless of what it was. I will spare you the details.

I bow hunt because I love the thrill of it, I bass fish because of the same reason.

I quit duck hunting because I had to eat the darn things. rofl

You get rifle hunters that get a attitude also...I hunt with either so guess I can't escape! If I hunted with a rock and had success guess I would still have the attitude.maybe it's pride just a little misguided? confused2

It is PRIDE...whether you bow, rifle, spear....whatever. I choose to believe that it is not reflected in all but in the one's that are...I would say this to them.... "God gave you an ability as well as the bounty and you would do well to remember that it all comes from him by his grace. Not from anything you did."

I hope I don't come across with an attitude. I just try to enjoy hunting either with a bow or rifle. I don't see the " We are Better attitude". Ya, sometimes people have opions on different things but that will happen with anything in any sport. If you think about it, if we all had attitudes we would be helping each other. I for one ask a ton of questions to help me better my bow hunting and I always get a ton of help from everyone. We have people willing to help each other weather it's hunting or needing help with there lease. I met a great guy on here that has helped me with my lease and now I have made a good friend. There may be a few unfriendly's but I don't see attitudes come with it.

Thanks, Jigfish

If you think bow hunters are bad, try joining in on some of the western hunting forums, then tell them you're from Tx and hunt over a feeder. You'll be lucky if, on some sites, the mere mention of being from Tx doesn't bring on a wave of decent from the mountain hunters.

I don't think that at all about gun hunters but you know I'm guilty of being better than other bow hunters by shooting an omen... Quality smack talking is all in good fun and hopefully precieved that way.

funny this is usually what is said about mathews shooters...or hoyt shooters....or pse shooters.....or bowtech shooters....or rage shooters....see my point

First time i have read that "bowhunters" in general have a bad attitude. I still shoot a rifle now and then and I still enjoy it. This is an interesting thread in the bowhunting section

I see it a lot especially when a crossbow guy asks a question. It is the same way when you're on the hunting section and start talking ARs. It's very condescending.

I hope I've never appeared to have a "holier than thou" attitude toward non-bow hunters; I don't like that attitude in others. I will admit though, that I am personally more proud of my bow kills than I ever was of my gun kills.

I would have to agree, its the redneck way of joing the "im better than you are" church.

Same principle as driving a prius just so you can tell people how much you care about the environment.

of course they are not all like that but man there are alot of them out there, I freely admit this because im a bowhunter when its bow season.

I would like to think no one is above another.
I am prolly not in this group but bow hunters would have to have an edge up on others. By this I mean archers usually are better scouters, more disiplined during the hunt, just overall more aware about themselves in the woods than most other hunters. With a gun I've killed derr from 22-450 yds so I have skills, but this year will be my 1st season with a bow. We'll see if I'm up to the task. Hope this came across as I meant it.

I hunt with a bow, crossbow, and rifle and if I could I would use a rifle all the time I do get sick of the holier than thou attitude of bow only hunters I enjoy gun hunting way more than anything else, it is annoying that pretty much every hunting show is primarily bow hunting I want to watch people hunt the common way with a gun. The main reason I got into hunting is because when I was young the only way I was allowed to use a gun was to hunt the love of hunting and the outdoors came later but it was guns that brought me into it. Now days the only reason I ever archery hunt is so I can start earlier and as soon as gun season starts I put the bow back in the closet until next year. I got my first archery deer this season with a crossbow and the deer dropped but if didn't die and I couldn't get close enough to cut its throat because it was kicking so I shot it again but it still took forever to die, I wanted to call the game warden and ask her to let me finish it off with a gun but I didn't have cell service, it was gruesome and I felt terrible for the deer a gun is a much cleaner ethical kill and I've killed many deer with a rifle that were in bow range.
