The Academy corn is pretty clean. Not as clean as the Jacoby Feeds corn we get in the hill country. But it is not so dirty that it will stop up a feeder. Try jacoby's pecan mix... good stuff!!!!

Arlington Academy is out, too. Hope to get more on Friday, but they weren't too confident.

How "clean" is this corn yall are getting from walmart and academy? last time I bought it at Academy was the first time I had a feeder stopped up in 5 yrs of it running and it did it 3 times before it emptied 200lbs. I can't bring myself to buy from Wally World or Academy. Trying to get them to donate to the area 4H shows is like pulling teeth (and in the end...they don't). The local feed stores and Brookeshire Bros is no problem at all so that is who I support when it comes to anything resembling feed.

The deer and hogs sure will eat good this season.

Went to Wally Mart to see if they would match the price. They did it no problem so I bought 50 bags.

Good to know. I might run out to the Wally World in Mansfield and see if they will match since everyone else around here is out.

Does any know for sure that these prices are being driven by this being an above average year for corn production? Or, is it just a matter of retailers going after one another?
The feed stores have to be taking a beating right now. Every year late in the season when Wal-Mart stops stocking corn, the feed store prices ALWAYS increase. Most of north central texas had horrible corn crops.....

well, I checked and the Mansfield Wal Mart does have corn and will price match. Just bought 6 bags. They have 2 or 3 pallets sitting in the back that I saw and one over in the hunting department.

I'll stick with the clean stuff at our local feed store in Hamilton. Yeah, it's $6 per 50# bag, but I know it's clean and won't clog my feeder.

The Walmart corn in the Remington bags is clean as can be. Only bad corn I have ever bought was from BPS a few years ago. It was absolutly the worst I have ever seen. Huge cobs and straw in every bag!

NOTE:
According to the Academy sales flyer, the $3.99 price is good through this Saturday, September 18th. Given they don't extend it, better take advantage of this price war while you can.

Killeen Academy still had the 3.99 sign up but that was all they had. cupboards were bare. Went across the street to Wally and they had it for 3.98 for 40 lbs. grabbed 15 bags.

I bought 50 bags of the Remington corn (Walmart) and it was fairly dirty/cobby but what irks me is that like out of 50 bags 10 weren't sewn all the way. It just makes a freaking mess grabbing a bag by the top and corn starts spewing out of the bottom. I guess it's still worth saving $60 bucks though.

Last Thurs. (9/16) I bought the last 50 bags that the Academy in San Marcos had. They didn't seem too happy about selling me that many bags either. Oh well, I got mine.
