Got a buddy looking for a new RR AR15 for duty. It has to be factory pretty much. I don't keep up with prices, anybody know of any "deals"?

Each place is different. Sometimes Bushmaster is on that list

I've seen those lists a time or two. They accept DPMS but reject BCM and LMT. Dosn't make much sense.

The "list" should be based on specs and not brand names anyway, but then again specs don't mean much to some.

I got my RRA from Boom to Zoom. www.boomtozoom.net
Their pricing is the same as it was before the prices got rediculously high and have stayed low.

Go to the RRA website and look at the dealers list to see who is the closest to you. Who knows you neighbor might be one. I found mine 20 miles from me, he sells out of his house. He beat the factory sales prices by over $75.

They do make an ar "variant", nobody buys it though. It will likely be discontinued in the near future.

Check to see if he is mandated to carry a RRA specificly, or if he can do something better for cheaper like Spikes and some others mentioned bellow. If he can only carry RRA there doing some killer deals right now, have him call there LEO Sales division as he can buy factory direct off letterhead and have it shipped to his department or a local FFL and save alot.

I know it makes no freaking sense what so ever.

Yeah the "556" was a crappy sustitute for the original Swiss designed 550, they learned there lesson and I'm sure it will be gone soon.

BTW they do make a AR-15 that is a Gas Piston oprod, very much like LWRC's design pattern called the "516" and a 7.62 version "517" when mine comes in towards the later half of the year I will post pics.

That was me talking about it at the hog hunt. DPMS is not on our list to carry, too many problems with them.

There is a store in Houston that sells mainly Rock River, some Stag Arms.

This is where I got mine.

Class3weapons.com

check them out, they got good deals
I went to the RR website to piece mine together, would cost me $1500+, I got it from Class3weapons for a little under $1100!!

Last Dallas PD list for approved AR's I knew of was Colt, Bushmasters and RRA's.

Tx DPS bought Bushmasters...

I have seen the DPS testing criteria and Dallas' as well.

Their armorers used and did a "BANG" up job of testing.
Just like the military almost.

I would also check out SOG Armory, http://www.sogarmory.com/

My buddy got a stainless bull barrel, national match edition with a Magul style stock (the triangular type that is adjustable, sorry I'm not a AR guru so I have no idea what it's really called.) for about $1050 a few weeks ago from them. I thought it was a fantastic deal. They are loacted in Houston and their staff seems knowledgable and, most important, give a crap about their customers and products.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!
