Anyone have a good suggestion for something to plant in a food plot that will see limited direct sun? It will be a long, narrow (25ft) plot that's bordered on the sides by timber, meaning that it will only get direct sunlight during the middle of the day.
Thanks in advance.

rye as an attractant..if it's a firelane or a windrow, your main problem with planting something is going to be it getting covered by pinestraw and leaves.

I don't think either wheat or oats require a lot of direct sunlight. Just fertilize the fire out of them and they should grow nicely. Might scatter in a few turnips for the heck of it.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Wheat works well in between timber for food plots.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

Durana and Patriot white Clover are excellant for indirect sunlight. It is often used in Pecan orchards to provide all of the nitrogen needed for pecan trees. PM if you have any questions.
Thanks,

I threw and grew some oats in almost no sunlight behind my apartment. They grew well and the deer tore them up.

Try a wildlife grass mix you can find at local feed stores, we use it on east texas highlines and pipelines and in food plots in stands of pine with limited sun light and it grows well and doesn't cost as much as the name brands.
