Went to the Twisted root burger company #15 and it was fine, also did Fred's in Ft worth, but wasn't nearly as impressive as the burgers at Mary's Cafe. But my favorite greasy burger is still Nicky D's on 1187 in Crowley.

Frosty Drive In in Denton is pretty dang good. But I doubt you'd catch one of the Austin hippy reporter types over on Ft. Worth drive.

The only place on the list I have ate is Hruskas in Ellinger, I didn't have a burger though, but their kolachies are awesome!

This list is a crock.

Where is Bubba's burger shack from here in Houston? One of the best I have put my mouth on.

Been to alot of the burger places that have been listed. Here is my opinion.
1. Ponte's Diner(Fairfield tx)
2. Cole's BBQ(Fairfield TX)
3. Dairyland(jacksboro tx)
4. Twisted root(Dallas)
5. Kellers(Dallas)

i have had a twisted root big [censored] burger before. I was pretty disapointed. It was alright, but i had been expecting a jaw dropping experience. people had been talking this place up and getting me excited. I am not one of those people that listens to the general praise of a establishment and then try it and bash it just to be different. if i hear a lot of praise i expect it to be pretty good and i didn't get that from twisted root. i got a decent burger. the meat had no taste and was bland. It needed seasoning. By the end of the burger i was getting bored. The other problem is the price. Geez, by the time i ordered the burger fries and drink it was close to $15. I had heard about the homeade root beer, but it tasted tart and lacked sweetness. It was as if it was watered down. When i crave a burger i just grill for my family and season to my liking. i control what goes in it from the seasoning to the leaness of the meat. i can toast the bun to my liking and make it the way i want.

I only lie when I tell the truth.

Can't believe I forgot about Kellers Catus Jack's in Dallas. Good cheap burgers. There use to be another place in dallas called Texas Burgers. Usually couldn't get the burger back to my office before it would eat through the bottom of the paper sack. Good stuff. Not sure if it's still around or not. Don't go to Dallas anymore if I can help it.

Now there's something we can agree on!

None of those are better than Herd's in Jacksboro or Dairy Way in Crowell.... heck, 5 Guys in Lubbock even...

Ok when they were at #15 they should have got up,pushed their overpriced driedout cold pisspoorly served burger away .Then walked across the street to Adair's Saloon and had a REAL BURGER like the one pictured above.
What is up with all these "gourmet burger" places? Check this one out. We tried it a few weeks ago. Three grown men ate lucnch for $21.39. Thats not bad for a fresh burger with fresh cut fries and drinks.
