If you dont go with 7mag we have alot of Rio's right outside Eldorado which is close to San Angelo. Reasonably priced. (915) 328-0645 Mike www.westtexashuntorg.com

7mag, $1400 for two Rio's, ouch. Brian, if you wait til season gets closer, you can find some good deals on hunts. If you wait later in the season, you will get even better deals.

Brian, I usually do a DIY each season in Texas along with now hunting the Grasslands in Decatur. I mainly hunt my property in LA., but I like to go different places to hunt, especially Texas and Tenn. I am not interested in the least bit about hunting with a guide or hunting by a feeder. I have found places where you can DIY for $500 or less for two birds. Some of these places include lodging, but no meals. As the season gets closer, I'm going to look on this forum for another possible place to hunt. Like I said, as season gets closer, you should be able to find plenty of DIY hunts here.

Yes ... can find decent places if you are patient for $100-$150 a day.

Best advice I have on this one is to drive the county road's in well known part's of the state holding a fair amount of bird's! Get a map find area's with river's nearby and start knockin' door's ya' never know who will say yes! If not def. hit the grassland's in decatur ton of bird's if you got the skill's to get em'!

Just for me Brian, I enjoy hunting public land because it is more challenging. So if you do not decide to do a lease or hunt with an outfitter you can always find a bird or two on the public land. Avoid the first weekend, after that you are fine. Just scout two or three locations.
