I was just wondering if anyone knew what would work best for attracting pigs. Diesel with corn or rotten corn. Also, about how long to do you have to wait to start seeing results, and about how deep should this corn be buried in the ground with the post hole digger. Any suggestions on whatever you have tryed to attract pigs would also be a great help.
Thanks

Seems to depend where you are. I have had MUCH better results with sour corn.

I have had about equal results with soured corn, dieseled corn, rasberry jello'ed corn, and plain corn. They are not picky eaters, they eat like pigs....its wether or not you get them there.

If the above methods work almost the same, does it really matter if the corn is buried into the ground? The pigs are around but the problem is that I shot 2 hogs (last week and the week before) right before sunset. 3 days ago I placed solar lights (blue LEd lights) on the feeders, and now since Sunday I havn't seen any pigs come out. I don't know if I spooked them, and I don't know if they've eaten the corn since I put up the lights. I am going out to check the feeders this afternoon again. Hopefully the corn will be gone. Maybe they've become more nocturnal.
Thanks for your replies.

First off - Welcome to THF

Anything you do different, no matter what it is, you'll have to wait for the hogs to get used to it. If there's hogs on your place, they'll get accustomed pretty quick. But hogs ain't like deer, so you'll have to be patient.

As far as digging holes - yeah - always a good idea. This lets the smell remain well after the top feed is gone. It gives a bigger footprint of the feeding area even if it's defined to within a trap...especially when diesel or soured corn is used. Hard to get rid of them smells...

Diesel will keep all the other critters from eatting (most of the time)before the hogs find it.

No luck yesterday afternoon. After I hunted, I placed the corn with diesel about 3 ft below the ground. I'll be going out Thurs afternoon to check if there was any turbulence. Anyways, I'll keep you guys updated.
Thanks

3 feet!!! Yikes!! You gonna feed the devil? lol!

I don't think you need to go that deep, but that's just my opinion...and I'm getting old...so 18 inches is the max my hole-diggers go.

But, keeps us posted with your progress.

I never tried the post hole thing. Seems like a lot of work and I tired of digging post holes a while ago...

Alright, here's the scoop. Yesterday, Me and a buddy went out before sunset and checked the feeders with the mounted LED flood lights and diesel/corn (Nothing hit the corn under the feeder, as well as the diesel/corn that we placed 5 yards away from the feeder). Although, the extra corn that we used to feed the sendero with (starting 15 yards away from one of the lighted feeders) was all gone (not a drop left) and we fed the heck out of it. Does this mean that something is afraid of the led light? After we saw the results, we headed to another feeder on the opposite end of the lease (one without a light) and saw 3 hogs (Wind was not working with us). We got up to shooting range and just as my buddy was about to pull the trigger they all ran off.

get rid of the bright lights and put in RED lights and they will come around it. It sounds like you got spot lights up and it is scaring them. Again try red or amber lights.

I got those solar flood lights from homedepot. I heard from others that these lights work without the red lenses. I guess I'll have to give the red lenses a try, thanks for the advice retrievergamecalls . I'll be going out today to check the feeders / Hogs. Any ideas on getting or making the red lenses for the lights since they don't come custom with the red lenses.

Yesterday afternoon I went out to check my feeders (I had taken the lights off last Thursday). To my surprise every bit and piece of corn was gone underneath both feeders. So I decided to hunt the feeders. About 9:30pm with a good amount of moon my buddy spotted a pig that looked to be 4-6ft long and about 3ft high. I couldn't get a good look at it with the scope from far away but with the binos it looked really nice. So we moved closer to get a better shot. I wanted to shoot that big one to mount but everytime I was ready to pull, the pig would move, another pig would get in the way, or all of them would bunch up together. It was difficult to see the crosshairs to begin with, and I was under lots of pressure to get a shot off since the pigs were almost done feeding on that particular feeder. I guess I got a little too anxious and ended up shooting a 75lb hog. Overall, we had a blast, and I guess I could say that my conscious is at ease since I hadn't seen much action lately. As far as the lights, I don't think I'll be putting them back up again. Also, the hogs havn't dug up the diesel / corn yet.

Congrats, SBH12!

Don't give up on the diesel or the lights just yet. A little more patience and slipping the lights in a little at a time will do the trick.

Hope you get Ol Bigboy!!!!

On all the pigs ive hunted i have used the PigOUt jelly substance you can buy at academy for 5 dollars. Dig a hole a foot at the max and mix corn with a bunch of the pigout i have returned several times the next day after digging holes and found level ground they will tear that stuff up!
