OK I have been hunting since I was 8 yrs old, and have never done the Hunters Ed thing. I've never even seen a GW while hunting...anyways, I got the deferred HunterEd option this year since I'm gonna be on public land. What is the penalty if I am not hunting next to someone who has theirs? I was told that I would be cited, but would have 6 months to make it right by doing my Hunters Ed...is this right?

No idea. Maybe pm Dan in Spring. I believe he teaches hunters ed and would probably know the right answer.

I have heard that you can take it within 6 months and get the ticket dismissed, but the deferral is only good for a year so you will need to take it anyway before next year. You should take it asap. just my 2 cents.

Yes if You get cited you just need to take the course in a certain amount of time...not sure how long but 6 Months sounds about right. The trouble is if u get a ticket near the end of the season there might not be any courses available, at least my buddy ran into that problem here in lubbock. He had to drive to amarillo.

Well I looked at doing the course about a month or so ago, and the nearest place to me was in Midland and in the evening time when I wouldn't be able to make it b/c of work. There's not really any courses around these parts in the near future, so I'm just gonna take my chances and if I get cited for it then I'll be forced to take some time off work and go outta town to get it done...this whole paying bills thing is really getting in the way of everything else!
