I dug a three foot deep hole under neath the trap with a post hole digger and filled it with corn and hogwild over easter weekend, and didn't catch anything. Nobody goes out there during the week to check it so I have to lock it open. I checked it yesterday morning and there were tracks in the dirt under the trap, but not very many, and about the first foot of the hole was empty of corn. Do you guys think that maybe I need to feed this trap for a while and let them go in and out before I set it again? By the way the hole is under the watermelon rinds.[image][/image]

Hogs may not be used to hogwild, use sourcorn or diesel corn. Give it some time with open trap let them get comfortable. Than set your trap and you got them guaranteed.

I will try the deisel this weekend, or I was also thinking of sour corn with beer fermented in it.

Use some BlackGold! It blows all other hog attractants out of the water. I've caught hogs in traps with Blackgold the day after I put the trap in place. Google search it or go to Texasboars.com

Do not use any attractants. Sourcorn or diesel corn make you life simple don't you have anything else to worry about. Simple works best.

I was also wondering about rub spots. There are some old telephone poles out on the property. One is right on the edge of the timber and after the kreasote was completely rubbed off we poured oil, and deisel on it to keep them coming and ther have been no fresh tracks since. That was about two months ago.

I am thinking here... I maight be due to fact that there was no food o property. Once they discover food on regular basis it will happen lets hope that they will come in numbers that can be managed. Telephone poles are known for rubs, that is good way of thinking. Thing like a hog and you got them figured out.

Definately, as soon as I catch some. I am gonna give it a try this weekend. My father in law has been putting a 50# bag of corn in there every 3 or 4 days and it is completely gone when he checks it with plenty of tracks now.

Went out this weekend and set the trap with some corn and a little hog wild that was left over. I cought one boar. He was 200 or a little over. [image]http://[/image] [image]http://[/image] [image]http://[/image] [image]http://[/image] enjoy the pics. This was very exciting for me since it is the first time I have trapped something in this trap. I have set it several times with no avail, but this time I came around the corner and the door was shut. I thought maybe the trip wire just broke, but when I drove up this monster was laying in the corner bleeding from the mouth from ramming the cage. When I got out of the ranger he rammed it some more and charged me a few times. I gave him one shot between the eyes with my new 10/22 and he dropped. This was also my first boar. Thanks for the help.
