anyone got any experience with em? i saw the 38 speial was on sale at academy and i like the concept. the trigger actually felt pretty good. dont know a lot about the 38 is it a decent round? they also have the 357 lcr and i dunno if maybe thats too much load for such a small gun. any input?

the .38 is a great carry round.
The LCR is a great revolver, my dad has one and he likes it a lot. I carry a S&W J frame and love it.

Nothing wrong with the LCP. Problem lies with the cartridge. If I pull a pistol on someone with fear for my immediate well being, I want it to kill him. Shot with the LCP he may die but I want him dead right there. I want the threat brought to an immediate end. The 380 is absolutely lame. There are simply better choices for CC use.

he asked about the LCR, not the LCP.
The LCR is a .38 revolver, not a .380

I have to agree, thats why I like my glock 27

"the 380 is absolutely lame"Thats funny as hell The LCR does rattle and it kicks like hell with full house 357's. You really have to try it to appreciate it. It works though.

You have to undestand some of these caliber gods and arm chair quarter backs.

well i could shoot someone with a 22 5 times in the face and i bet theyd still die just as good as if i shot em with the 38 or 357.. but what i really was concerned with was whether or not the gun was just too small to be a 357. if thats the case then id spend the lesser amount and get the 38 special.. im definitely a revolver guy but was just concerned about size and kick in that small of a frame.

You could shoot them once with the 22 and they still die.
The light 357 kicks but I'm not sure the fireball justifies the extra power. I have an M&P 360 and it kicks. Is it something I worry about if I need to throw down, No.
It might be expensive as hell but If 357 is your game, I would really recommend the 3" barrel version of the M&P 360. It still fits a pocket fine and gives significant velocity increase and less flash over the snub.
Otherwise a good plus P in the 38 LCR is good enough.

I have two S&W scandium airweight j-frame .357s. They have a punishing amount of kick and muzzle flash when shooting .357s. But, I would still recommend the .357 over the .38. You can always shoot .38s and +p .38s out of the .357 but the .38 will limit you to just .38 rounds. I keep .357s in my guns. Shooting someone in face 5 times with a .22 might work but the odds that you will have the time and ability to perform this feat of marksmanship are very small. You want stopping power because multiple hits are not guaranteed (especially if the bad guy is shooting back). Plus, studies indicate that people don't notice recoil or muzzle flash during a shootout.

OOPS!! My mistake about the LCP/LCR thing. There is info all over YouTube about the LCR frame being easy to cut into at the upper bridge of the frame due to flame impengment with heavy loads.

I have the LCR (not the LCP) and I like it alot. I have the 38 spl. I dont know how I could handle the 357. The recoild is not bad, but after about 50-75 rounds I start feeling some fatigue. I would think that it would be a little more pronounced with the heavier round. On a side note, I love carrying it. I have carried larger revolvers, an xd sub compact, and a keltec 380. I like thi sone the best. It slips into my pocket of most cargo shorts durung the summer, rides inside the waist during the cooler months, and on my hip when I am out hunting. And most of the time I forget its there.
