I was considering buying this gun to make it my dedicated hog killer. I've never shot it though and was wondering if any of you guys have had the chance to knock off a couple of rounds with it? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/49839-55.html

Is this like the one from Wally World with the Weatherby tag?? Same action, as Howa makes the Vanguard action for Weatherby. Better stock though on the Howa's.

Me and my brother in law both bought a couple a few months back, in both .204 and 22-250. We have both been very please with them and the price does not hurt. Went with the Howa/Hogue combo.

And that is actually not a bad price at all, but may check with your local Walmart that carries guns and see what they can do on it. I just checked and they are in stock in their distributor so should only take a week to get. Walmart's part number for the gun you posted is 49839 and manu part HWK95102P

I owned one in 25-06 that was a complete pleasure to shoot. I used my cousin's 1500 that was chambered in .308 to take a head shot on a spike buck two years ago, and a coyote not long after that. It was a pleasure to shoot as well. Both had the bulky black synthetic stocks on them and they felt perfect in my hands.
Another buddy of mine has one in 25-06 with the houge over molded stock and I like it a lot as well. Howa makes great guns in my opinion and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at all. I know they are not American made rifles, but I don't care, I know quality when I see it and these guns got it.

I shot my first brown bear on Kodiak Island with a Howa in .338 Mag. Today, I own one in .22-250....it's a real shooter, although a little heavy for such a light cartridge.
Great value.

Howa are Very nice Rifles!! I had aquired one from driller in 308 and last year, fired 4 shots all neck at 150+ yards and bagged 4 deer. I have to say that I was impressed at the accuracy! My buddy could not believe it until he shot it!!!
