I got Wed thru Fri blocked off the work calendar, and checking out a few spots, doing some scouting this weekend. If the right deal works out I'll hunt the first 3 days and even thru the weekend, if not I will skip, really not a big deal to me. I'm not interested in the crowded dove openers, just not my cup of tea.

I will work at school that day till noon. I have the afternoon off and will be headed to the tank. Should be pretty good out here in west texas. Lease I am on is 30 minutes from the house.
good water tanks and lots of birds.....every evening should be good....

If I was still in Dallas I know exactly where I'd go, how much I'd pay ($150) and I'd take the day off and shoot a limit of birds. But since I'm in a new area and none of my local buddies know of any kind of a deal, I'm sitting this one out I think. (Probably sitting out dove entirely and just focus on teal) where would you go in the Dallas Area?

Anybody hunt the public land up in Fannin county? How are the birds up that way. I hunted over by Krum last year thought I would try the other side of the Metroplex.

I have to go supervise some day hunters, so even if I'm not working by then I will be out in the fields keeping tabs on folks. thought this was going to be what happened, but since I am making $0 (zero) money for my troubles it looks like I will find my way up to Sweetwater to hunt.

One of the reasons I retired early was so I could hunt doves, quail, deer, hogs, turkeys, squirrels, and rabbits any time I want to (during open season).
