I know some of y'all are fortunate to have your own hunting ranches, and I was curious on what made y'all name it what it is? I'm having trouble naming my family's property, and I am curious of what y'alls reasons were behind your property names. So lets here the names, and meanings behind them!

We used to have The Grasshopper Ranch. First time my 4 year old son saw it we were driving across a pasture and it was a solid wave of grasshoppers in front of us. He asked my dad if he was growing grasshoppers.

He now has two other places and we are in the same boat as you. We call one ranch Jacksboro (it's north of Jacksboro) and we call the other one Concho. It's in Concho county.

ours are all named based on location. Some smaller portions are named to mess with whoever hunts them. I can't say what some of those are w/o attending banned camp for a cpl weeks.

all racnches are named "Jacobs Ranch" on any official doccuments though.

IF I had a ranch it would be "EASY STREET" or at least the road leading to it.

I've always wanted to live on Easy Street!

Singletary, Schuman, Stubblefield, Graves, Duren, Shaw, Norwood, Kirby, Robertson. All places named after former owners. Then of course you ranchers out there know each pasture has to have a name so we know where we are talking about. Canyon, Goatshed, Kline, Bull Hill, Bills Cabin, Tank Trap, Lower River, Camper, Lovegrass etc. Takes awhile for a new face to learn what's where.

Like a lot of ranches we're named after our brand. But the cattle company is incorporated under the name Broken Wind Cattle Co. Considering the group of owners, it just seemed fitting.

Funny you should mention it...I searched extensively for chupa fossils up there. I didn't find any. After doing some extensive research I found that there are no known fossil records of the famed....nay, feared....chupacabra. Scientific research shows that the chupacabra's bones are filled with liquid nitrogen, and as we all know, their blood has very high concentrations of Arsenic as well as tetrahydrocannabinol. Upon death and slight decomposition the substances meet and result is catastrophic spontaneous combustion (often mistaken as meteor strikes due to the resulting crater). It's said that if one comes across one of these craters soon after it's formation that the air around it is still so dense with toxins that the simple act of breathing can lead to hallucinations and the insaciable urge to eat funyuns...

I got a buddy with a little ranch called the "69 Ranch". It is 58 acres. I think it had something to do with closing on June 9th. confused2 Took me a while to figure it out, but I ain't complaining cuz I'll be there all weekend hunting dove.
