The first time I went hunting I used a black Camelbak Lobo to carry water and some other minor supplies. It was way too small and really stood out. I've since been looking at picking up the Camelbak Stiker in AP. However, having a backpack dedicated to hunting seems sort of stupid so I've been looking at other backpacks that blend well into my camo. I have some AP and APG items. While at REI yesterday I found two pretty good potentials: Camelbak Day Star (yes, this is a chick pack, but I like the way the shoulder straps flare for shouldering a rifle) and the Arc'Teryx Mantis. Neither is completely perfect, colorwise, but they aren't camo. So I took some pictures to see what the opinions are. On the left side is the Arc'Teryx and on the right is the Camelbak.

AP

APG

Thanks

WAY too much thought involved. Also, just because you get the camo Camelback one doesn't mean it has to be dedicated to hunting.

I would go with Tiffany and Lee's choice. Or maybe Jim Shockey's current fave.

Do you honestly believe that the camo pattern of your pack--or even your clothing--makes even a whit of difference? Hint....after 40 years of biggame hunting most everywhere, I will tell you: don't stress over camo; go jogging instead.

From one indecisive person to another, I'd go with camelback if its more comfortable for you, for sure. Looks better too, IMO.

Walmart in the woodlands has remington camo packs for 20 that look pretty nice. They even have a big ruck sac style with waist support, for 20 bucks.

if ur thta worried, get a camo back pack.... As for dedicating one to hunting.... I wouldnt have it any other way. During deer season and turkey season, I get out of class on friday, throw my school pack on the floor and pick up my hutning pack... everything is ready to go....

I hate to tell you this, but if you're backpack is not EXACTLY the same pattern as your shirt...you've got absolutely NO chance of killin a deer...it simply cannot be done.

Accessorizing while hunting is crucial to a good hunt. One cannot have clashing colors while killing.

Seriously though, what is its main purpose? Function over form in this case. And,people kill animals wearing tons of blaze orange. I don't think non matching or non camo is a day ender.
