Wrong. rolleyes

Those are Texas dates. Oklahoma Snipe is Oct. 1, 2010 - Jan. 15, 2011; statewide. Oklahoma Snipe always opens on Oct 1st. I will very likely go up there that day too. There are always Crows to shoot if the Snipe are not down yet.

we need to hook up this year John.. We ended up shooting close to 40 snipe last year out of the swamp.. it was loaded during the big snow they had up there. There were 2 seeps that were not frozen and they just swarmed around it.

I am going to lay the smackdown on the crows this year. Uncle has a 300 tree orchard and they ate him up last year. Getting a caller and dekes this year and we are going to put the hurt on them.

Beats picking up sticks in the orchard.. that job sucks

Even though OK has a season, they also have the depradation order same as Texas. A 300 tree orchard would definately qualify. You could hunt it now if you wanted.

Does anybody eat crows?

Not judging one way or the other, just curious if they are edible.

I have ate a lot of unusual game, but never brave enough to try Crow yet. My Dad ate a crow when he was a kid. Traveling with his parents from Oklahoma to California for a new beginning, my Grandfather became ill around half way. Cancer, and Doctor game him three months. It was less and my Grandmother and Dad where stuck with no money and no place to stay. A farmer let them live in a barn and other than taking some of the bad lettuce that the farmers fed to the horses, they had nothing to eat. My Dad had been given his first shotgun from my Grandfather as tradition when he turned 12, same as my Grandfather had been given his at 12 years of age from my Great Grandfather, and so on before that. It was just a cheap single shot Champion 12 GA. Because he was hungary, my Dad went out to kill anything to eat. All he found was a single Crow. On the spot he built a fire and roasted it whole with a green stick over the fire. Feathers and all. He said it was the worst thing he ever tasted or ate, but he was hungry. I asked for that shotgun after hearing the stories behind it. It was a true survival gun. I restored it to usable condition and have hunted with it since.

Anyway, you know you could take a bunch to Kubys and have them made into Japalo Cheese Sausage. Give it to all your friends and tell them it was Duck. Let them eat Crow. nuts
