I have two Cuddeback Capture w/flash. I bought one last year worked great. The second one I got for Xmas. The older one I put out at the house. I put the latest upgrade on it. It would only take a few pics in a weeks time. The deer are tearing up the protein. I know because I put out a Stealth camera it took 178 pics in a week. The second cuddeback I have has the latest upgrade new batteries and 2 pics in three days. Any suggestions? Frustrated!!

I don't have any suggestions for you, but this is interesting to hear. I'm trying to find two good trail cameras right now but I'm having a realy hard time finding something I like.

You might try taking your batteries out and then re-installing them. Also taking and reformating your SD cards also. I have had issues with cameras working fine and then just stop all together. I have heard nothing but good things about Reconyx, Curtis and I am thinking about getting a couple to try.

Try using SanDisk brand card in 1 GB. I put out my new IR 2 weeks ago and it is working great - over 400 pictures. They are very sensitive so got alot of birds, squirrels, you know

wow seems like the cuddes havent faired to well, watkins has had problems with his also. Best of luck DONT DO THE UPGRADE!!! It made my camera not use it's flash at all even with new batteries. It started take night time pics that were just a black screen. Cuddeback customer service stinks. They use little college girls reading through a manual and when they get to the end they just say send it to us with $125 and we will send you another one. They just don't last more than two seasons before they want to make more money from you. They have lost my business and I am addicted to trail cameras

I got this guy from China who is a OEM on trail cameras and wants me to try some samples of some that are 8 mp with IR and MMS capabilities. I might give them a try and see how they work.

Probably gonna try a Reconyx for now.

This is the camera I am currently looking at getting a sample to test. It's got my attention so far but there are some others from some other factories that I am looking at before I make up my mind. http://www.cbc-china.com.cn/cn/productxx/201003/5433.html

"Three Smart Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR) allow for camera to sleep and save energy – when outer sensors are tripped, camera awakens immediately and is ready to take picture when center PIR is tripped. PIR technology senses changes in temperature (not motion), so presence of large animals trigger the device, while general motion (ie, tree branches, wind) won’t set the device off." Curtis let me know if it works...the one thing that concerns me is that it "senses changes in temperature (not motion)"..here in Texas it might pick up in motion via a shadow moving during the day...or a reflection off of a feeder.I have had this happen with most every camera I have tried in the last 18 yrs now at one time.

Yeah. The other thing I dont like is the trigger response on some of these is 1 sec. I look as some of the ones like you see on Cabelas website and they say like 1/3 sec and such. But the way this camera makes it look like its sensors are designed to pick up temp changes before it comes in view of the camera. I don't know...like I said...still looking and there are a lot of choices from these OEM manufacturers to look at too.

Don't trust the trigger times Manufacturers put on Game Cameras. Research and read reviews, I like www.chasingame.com they review alot of cameras and have very extensive trigger time and flash/ir range tests.

I can deal with slow trigger speeds by where I put the camera or how I set it up. 1 sec is not to bad. The old Moultries were around 66666666666666666666 seconds slow. Deer could be on a return trip when the pic was taken.

Here is another link that was just sent to me. http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?Inde...t=trail+camerasSome of these I kind of recognize. Some are old styles of cameras I think I have seen before, like old models or something.

When they say "set" is that one camera and when they say "6-set" is that 6 units? Pricing they quote is much cheaper than here. Are they in USA now or is there shipping from overseas?

I got pricing sent to me in a email for the sample price for just one. That is what they quote for just the camera. I have not inquired on shipping yet because I don't know really which one I want and I'm kind of wary on how good these would be. I will go ahead and ask about the pricing on shipping and see what he says...couldn't hurt.

Well I have already done the upgrade on the older model. Still no worky. Maybe I will try a 1gb SD card. Will let you know. The customer service lacks service Chris - also make sure the internal hard drive is empty. There are special instructions with your camera on how to transfer these to an SD card. One of the things I have found, with all cameras, is you need to turn them off when replacing the SD card. Otherwise they revert to the internal hard drive if only 1 pic is taken.

I just set up a new moultrie D55. It worked but would hardly detect motion. I turned off, removed batteries & replaced. Powered on and set to default setting. Works fine now. It just had a glitch. I dont know how the Cuddeback works but if you haven't done that yet its worth a try. also remove the SD card. hope this helps.

Well I am finally chiming in on the POS cuddebacks. We have 3 captures and as of last weekend only one works. I sent one back a few weeks and got a call yesterday. It was out warranty by 1 month. She charged me 110 bucks and is sending me a new one and I bet 100 bucks its a refurb! The second one that I have been screwing with for a week just fries the SD cards. I cant even re-format the cards on the computer so it will not be sent back but used as target. We have 8 cameras and I will say the original moultrie is the best POS out of the bunch. Yes the screens are out on 75% of them, but you can still get by w/o the screen. I went to radio shack and bought a 10 dollar battery tester, so thats all I have been doing is testing the battery and putting in a fresh SD. I am in limbo on the next camera to purchase, but I cant seem to spend 200-300 for a camera that last 1 yr. Starting this season I will pull all cameras down after season and put back up in June. ????????????????????????????????????????????
