Anybody else reload B.P. cartridges? Getting a 45-90 Sharps rifle, it will do smokeless but I'm going to go the B.P. route. The fist thing I've learned is it's volumn not weight eek2That will take some getting use to since I try to keep my smokeless to within a 1/4 grain.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I don't know about .45-90, but I've loaded black powder in .45 Colt. What I was told...and what I've always done, is fill the case to the rim and then seat the bullet, compressing the powder. And I was also told what you don't want is a short load. I've shot loads like that in a reproduction peacemaker with no problems. I just don't do it much. Too much time and effort to clean after that. You have to take the whole pistol apart. bang
