I have never hunted duck in Texas. Hopefully I am gonna start this season. I am told that in order to hunt corps land I have to get some kind of special permit from the corps office in Lewisville. I was told that they only offer a limited number of permits. Can anyone tell me when they start offering these permits for the upcoming season? I plan on hunting the Doe Branch area of Lake Lewisville (mostly because of the proximity to my house) and Lake Ray Roberts. If anyone has any words of advice for these areas please let me know.

I think your best bet is to call the Corps Office in Lewisville. Just a friendly word of advice, you should refrain from naming lakes on a public forum. That is an unwritten rule of waterfowling that we respect the time and effort of other public hunters not to name lakes and areas. Best thing to do is to ask someone familiar with with Lake X in such and such county to please PM you. Or spell it backwards, anything to keep from lurkers and internet scouters from mobbing public water anymore than it already is.

Look up the Texas parks and Wildlife website and get numbers off of it to and call who ever is the controlling authority. Like was allready said naming lakes is not a good idea on this forum or anyother because of all the hard work people put into finding good spots. With that said good luck and hope you find what your looking for

Appreciate you guys not jumping all over him. It is definitely an honest question and he didn't know not to name lakes. He didn't name locations which is good and I'm sure he appreciates the advice.

You can name as many of those lakes up there you want...
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Its his first season and how is he to know where a good spot is no one and I mean no one is going to go where a rook ask questions about? What is in it for an experienced hunter to follow a rook to a mentioned spot? From what I hear around here yall are all to good to go where a beginner might be, he will bust "your" ducks working your spread, you were there too or close to it be glad someone else is wanting to hunt. Offer to take him with you so he learns the "right" way to do it.
