IC for first half of the season and then Light Mod or Mod for the 2nd half of the fall season and the winter season. BTW, Briley makes a great extended LM choke for the 870.

Waterhole hunting and jump shooting (walking) - I/C
Big fields with lots of passing shots - Mod
Flyways with the high fast travelers (my favorite but hard to find) - Full
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

For waterhole or mojo hunting, don't rule out a cyl choke either.
If not using an ou or sxs and I don't know what to expect, I generally start with an IC or Skeet, but have a Mod in my bag in case I feel I need to make a change.

Improved cylinder, but I keep a Mod, Full and XXFull in my shooting box.

What ever works for you. You need to go pattern your gun, take different chokes with you, and if one is not working, switch.
Same with decoys and duck hunting, if they don't like your spread, change it. Don't sit for an hour saying to yourself, "Man, they don't seem to like our spread today." Fix it, move it, change it.
With chokes, it's all in what you shoot, and what you shoot often, what you are comfortable with. Know your limitations.
Good luck.

i shot a skeet choke for a long time.
now I shoot I/C in my wingmaster.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I hunt with an old 20 ga. Wingmaster that doesn't have the capability of changing the choke. It sounds like some of you guys must be really fast. If you can see a bird, change the choke depending on the shooting situation and get a shot off before the bird is out of range ........... you are good!

I shoot modified or full. Modified for when im walking fields and full for just sitting. I hunt dove most of the time with a Full choke just cause I have for 10 years now. I like being able to reach out and hit the high flyers.
