Several years ago (8 or so) our house got robbed and most of my dad's guns were stolen. All the guns were handed down to me after he died so it was hard to cope with the loss. One of the guns taken was his Remington 1100 12ga. Shotgun. I missed this one especially as it was such a pretty and great shooting gun.

Several months ago my best friend came over with his grandpa's 1100 that he inherited. He showed it to me and he began hunting with it that september. A month later he came over with a brand new 1100 that he got a great deal on and I just forgot about it after that.

I have known him 20plus years and was his best man at his wedding March 10th here in San Antonio. Well the night before at the rehearsal dinner he handed out the groomsmans' gifts and they were all the same, an embroidered soft gun case. He passed them out to everyone then to me last. All the guys had empty cases and when I got mine it had a gun in it. I opened it and sure enough he had given me his Grandpa's shotgun. I could not believe it.

He told me that he wanted me to have another sentimental piece into my collection and that he purposely got a new shotgun after I saw the one he gave me months ago and liked it so much. I now have a safe bolted to the floor!! The 1100 is in awesome shape. It does not look 30-40 years old. The stock doesnt have a ding in it and the blue is in fantastic shape!!

I am so excited. I took it out this weekend and fired 3 thru the chamber and cleaned it all up afterwards... It has a 26" barrel which I think I am gonna like, my dad's was heavier than this one with a 28-30" barrel... I will probably be lookin to trade my 870 express 12ga for a 20ga for the wife.

Anyway, sorry it was so long!!! Any other cool stories with friends givin ya a gun or two??

Thanks everyone! Yeah, we hang out alot still even though we are both married now, our wives are good friends as well. Ray and I fish alot more than we hunt together, but hopefully I can find a lease this year. Thanks again!

Awesome story. Too bad your guns were stolen in the first place but that is a nice gift to replace your old one. True friends. I would wish that on anyone....not that they get stolen in the first place, though.
