I was thinking of getting a Charles Daily Shotgun, but know nothing about them. Does anyone own or have ever shot one or knows of someone how has? Are they any good or should I stay away for them? Thanks
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

What model, year?
Soem are good(older ones), the newer guns are junk.
Old Charles daly O/U's were actually made by Miroku, which is the same company that makes the beloved Browning Citori.

I have the pardner pump 12 ga. It hasn't given me any problems other than the magazine cap coming loose when a sling is attached. I have hunted with it in freezing weather and rain and put lots of shells through it without any jams etc. It's a good affordable gun in my opinion.

The company that owned Charles Daily did shut down but they are selling off Charles Daily to another company. Not sure when they will be back in production. The Charles Daly Arms that are around today are fair guns for the money. They had a problem with the hand bolt for the 12 ga. semi auto shearing off when shooting hot loads, but they replaced them free when they were notified. Most of the guns should have been repaired by now if they were going to have a problem or they will still be broke until a new company opens up a service dept. Repaired in good shape or new 12 ga. auto sells for around $350.00 - $400.00.I have owned 5 myself with one problem and it was taken care of in about 3 weeks, but they are out of business right now so make sure if you buy one it has been repaired or new. You can also buy a new Weatherby 12 ga. auto for about the same price as a Charles Daly.Personally I own both, and for the money they're OK, but if you can afford to I would buy a New Browning! Doesn't matter how much you shoot you want wear out the Browning or have any problems with it.The Browning is Superior to all the other shotguns made today even the high dollar "B" Gun Black EagleII. I own both and the Browning is just a better Gun and been around a lot longer. ( That's My OPINION )

I have 2 Charles Daly semi autos. Good gun for the casual gunner like me that does 3 or 4 dove hunts and maybe a quail hunt every year. They are basically Turkish made Remington 1100s built on old Remington tooling that was purchased from Remington. What that means is that the parts that wear out the most, like the gas rings can be replaced with remington 1100 rings. I like both of mine but if I could have afforded it, I would have bought an 1100. My 12 also wont shhot light loads but the 20 digests anything.

Guess it's a hit or miss thing. My girlfriend shoots the Charles Daily "Field" model that's a 20 guage auto. Sometimes it works good, other times it seems like I am constantly unjamming the thing for her.
