On open range properties with a high ratio of does to bucks, do coyotes provide a positive effect in helping control population numbers?

No 30-06's do. Just kidding, I don't think you could say they have positive effects on controling doe populations, because they aren't picky as to what they kill. They will take buck or doe, whichever they have an opportunity to get(usually the young or really old).

The probably help the total numbers a little. But unfortunately, they are hard to train to take only does. smile

They probably do help control rabbits and field rats, but they don't do near enough good to justify their damage.

They will not help your ratio however on very large tracts they are helpful in keeping deer numbers in check so on a very large tract of land there is no need to hunt coyotes to exterminate them just hunt them for fun
