Has anyone converted a boat trailer to a UTV trailer? If so, I would really like some pics and advise on the "do's" and "dont's" of it. I have an 18' skeeter trialer that I want to use to haul a UTV later. HELP PLEASE

It's really easy to do and there are a couple of different ways, if u have a welder then add metal of your choice from where it starts bending towards the toungue and brace accordingly, or if no welder then build a deck above the existing frame rails using 2x6 for the new rails and decking, this is how a buddy of mine built his and he hauls 4 quads and 2 dirt bikes on it and ist going on 6 years old and still going strong. Sorry no pics, but hope this helps

If it is a tilt trailer you need to add support to that area. The only thing holding it is a small welded strip of angle iron. That is a very weak area. I am in the boat business and see them break there all the time. Also you might have to move the axle back some. The center point of gravity is different.
Good luck!

Most of the older boat trls have tongue that has a couple of bolts that came be removed..take them loose and remove the tongue..get another old tongue or shorten the one thats was in the trl, if so you dont even have to remove it..Easy way, is to cut off the ball rec, and cut it shorter. The lenght is up to you..cut it back to trl frame, if it is a long trl for a big boat .weld or bolt a new one on...take 2x12 and bolt onto trl to mtach your 4 wheeler wheel base..if your lucky they will fit in between the boat runners..drive it on and lock it down and take off..leave the 2x12's for the next time you need a walkway to unload boat..

Did the same thing for my 4 wheeler trailer. Love the tilt option. Had to shorten the tongue a bit, and find the center of gravity so it woul tilt easy. I also added angle iron sides and an expanded metal floor. Got about 200.00 in it tops
