Okay...with season on the horizon, I am thinkin' about putting together a THF duck hunt...but spicin' it up quiet a bit...

I am looking at doing this January 8th and 9th.

I would have it up here at my place. That time of year the birds are hear in full force and guys that typically don't have the opportunity at a mallard will have their chance!

What I am lookin at is:

Everyone shows up Friday evening / or Sat. morning. we will have a quick breifing of guides and hunters (safety meeting)

I will provide a simple breakfast. (donuts /pastries / OJ / etc)

Everyone will hunt.

Return back to the ranch after the hunt.

Then we will have lunch. (something easy - deli sandwiches / etc)

When we are finishin' lunch, I will have a couple speakers...

I will try and get the "Texas State Duck Calling Champion" (or someone of equivalent status)

I will also try and get a "Champion Canada Goose Caller"

They will help you with your calling ability.

After that is over, there will be some down time... (rest / sleep/ talk/ clean birds) whatever...

Then that evening I was thinkin' about having a big cook out...(it will be catered) Hamburgers / sausage / and all the fixin's...

Guys that want to hunt only Sat. can stay and eat, and the guys that are going to only hunt Sunday could come up for it.

I thought about having some give aways, (I will get prizes donated)

Also, at the cookout, I thought about getting maybe the preacher from the church to maybe come give a sermon that evening...

Also, Sat Evening (night) I have 3 blinds/with feeders that I run year round, 2 blinds can hold 2 people, and 1 holds 1 person. If someone is interested, they could hog hunt Sat. evening. (this would cost a little more)

I have plenty of land for people to pitch a tent, and I also have room in the Garage / Loft, if people wanted to stay inside...(I know some like the adventure of camping)

Sunday we will basically do the same thing.

Briefing / Breakfast / and leave with your guide.

Hunt

Then come back to the ranch, take pictures, clean birds, and then everyone is free to head off in their own direction.

So what is your thoughts?????

What would you add, subtract?

Thinkin' Roughly $150 per person per day.
Would include : hunt & Food (if you want to bring a cot and sleepin' bag or a tent) then lodging will be provided also.

I would like to have 12 hunters per day. (4 guides with 3 hunters each)

Let me know...Your thoughts.

J.J.

I was gonna mention midget strippers until I got to the preacher part then thought that those two probably wouldn't go together!!!

Sounds like a winner so far, though!

Let me know if you need someone to "cater" some BBQ.

If you can't lick your own, you can't sit on the dog stand!

I have gotten a lot of "sounds good" replies...

Would you do anything different? Or keep it how it is, and run with it???

Thanks for your input! up

I'd rather drink beer and BS with the guys vs listen to a pastor give a sermon. I'm sure that's just me.

sounds like a good time to me. Will it all be in TX or will some hunts in OK, granted enough people have an OK license? What about a crow shoot in the afternoon (did not check season yet)?

It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

If I am able to get the whole weekend I'll be there- let me know if it's gonna happen or not.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Wonder,
Nothing happened. Different hunt. TexasEd will be the one organizing the same hunt with Redleg Outfitters at Glass Ranch this year. Tentative for the first weekend of the second season split same as last season.
