Ok, this is the deal. I hav e a new Maril xl7c. It comes with a one piece weaver style base. What I would like to know is: With a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9X40 what rings and base/bases would you use? Type, discription and model # if you know it would sure help. Thanks in advance.

I have found out it uses the same rings and bases as the winchester model 70.

A very reasonable affordable ring for the weaver base is the weaver grandslam rings. I've run them on a couple rifles with good success. They are all steel and best part is WalMart often carries them for under $20.

I'd stay away from leupold Rifleman Rings if you stay with weaver base.

No big reason to change bases as there are plenty of quality weaver style rings depending on how much you want to spend.

One issue I've come across on a long action stevens, was the factory weaver bases were too wide for the scope. Not sure how the one piece base is setup and where the notches are but this might cause more difficulty is going with just any base.

"I'd stay away from leupold Rifleman Rings if you stay with weaver base." Why may I ask?

They are aluminum which can't be tightened as much and have a tendacy to strip out.

I was told and believe steel is the way to go when it comes to scope rings

Am I really the first one to mention Zee rings?

She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.
