San Antonio River Walk – Restaurant recommendations

I recommend going on one of the tour river rides. I know it is real touristy thing to do, but it is a good way to see the river and get the history.

The wife and I like staying at the Drury on the river. Make a trip there every year.

We stayed at the Gunter. It is walking distance to the riverwalk, and most anything worth seeing.

And X2 on Casa Rio

Mi Tierras. Its a little ways from the river but worth it. Menger and Gunter are both good. Casa Rio is alright.

take your cam in the Buckhorn Saloon, check the Majestic to see if anything is going on and if you have a concealed, take it.

I've been here since 84 and haven't had to shoot anybody yet.

I work all around the state, sometimes evaluating some 'less than prime' real-estate for banks and developers, and have felt a lot more uncomfortable in Houston, DFW and Austin. There's scary folks in any downtown area. Just stay on the main tourista areas down there, and don't walk in any dark alleys at 2 AM and you'll be fine. Same thing you'd tell me if I was heading up your way.
