In closing - when the 270 was introduced -SAAMI limits were nothing like they are today..but somehow I get the feeling you have know idea what SAAMI is..so with that- I leave you to entertain yourself.

That's even scarier if you shoot your 270 with over-max loads frequently. did you know that metal fatigue is cumulative, and one of these days the metal in the barrel or action could just come apart, inches from your face!!?? well I have only been loading a year or so. With that being said, published max loads dont neccesarily mean max loads one can achieve in a specific gun. he could very well exceed max published loads and not reach pressure signs, while others might reach it under max loads.

I am not interested in learning your magic method of handloading. I prefer to follow the professionals who have the knowledge and equipment to determine what is safe. And as you have so eloquently stated, an extra 100 fps doesn't matter. (but an extra 10K psi could make a big difference!)

But I can tell he dont reload.PERIOD.I think he got his feelings hurt earlier and he has been chasing me around the board all day..its kinda funny..I noticed this thread scared the hell outta the Mag shooters..nobody will even post what they shoot on my other thread..thats funny right there!!
what he does not realize is that they PUBLISH manuals for people like him...thats why they list Max loads the way they do..

(but an extra 10K psi could make a big difference!) well it doesnt sound like you know much about loading, cause published data(professionals) can get you in trouble as well. seat a bullet long at max published data and watch metal flow.

I have to agree with original post, I think all of the shortmags, were useless inventions. Along with this list I would like to add 7mm 08 25-06 and too many others I cant think of right now. Yeah they all work, but do we need them not really do they achieve anything that the bullet before it didnt... no not at all.

Shoot whatever you want. If you don't lke the caliber don't buy it.

Of course one of the advantages of reloaded versus factory loads is that the OAL of the cartridge can be optimized for your particular rifle, thus increasing accuracy potential.

I dont think hornady makes any factory 270 wsm amoo or any other wsm ammo because of the deal they had with ruger, this thread make me laugh though I use to shoot a .270 and loved it but switched to a 270 wsm because of the SHORT ACTION and no matter how well you love your 270 I cant get it in a short action, again I realize that the short action is all user preference but it's something that the 270 doesnt have hence a reason for the 270 wsm

I don't think you and I could hunt together! If you made fun of my new rifle on a public forum, we probably would have to roll in the gravel! I shoot a 270 wsm I just got and have put four deer down with four shoots. Longest tracking job was 23 yards.

More power to all the guys that shoot any WSM. They had good marketing when they first came out and do provide a few differences / advantages than their longer action counterparts. I'm just fine with my originals but to each his own!!!

I like both the long action originals and the 270 wsm. I dont think i will ever be with out my 30-06, but i am pretty proud of my 270 wsm too (I reload so ammo cost not that big of a deal)
one of the things I admire most about guns and the people who love them is that there is always more than one tool for the job, but we are lucky enough to go about it how ever we want and with which ever caliber we want. (within reason keeping ethics for the animal in mind)
learn something new everyday and you will have never wasted a day.
