I just recently got a hold of a 4x4x8 guillotine syle hog trap and the first night out it caught a 125lb. sow that was carrying pigletts. I gave it to the guy who is letting me use the trap. It's been almost a week now and they havent come back into the trap. I baited it out with more corn and strawberry jello. If any body has any other suggestions on what other bait to use id be happy to hear them. Thanks

Welcome to THF, bigdaddy590

Did you shoot the hogs in the trap? If so you may want to move it to another location. Some hogs are picky. That doesn't mean you have to do that always, but sometimes. I've shot hogs in my trap, baited it in the same location, and caught more that same week. Just depends on the herd. Some hogs are "trap smart" and won't go in for anything. Only thing you can do is leave the door open, tie it so that it can't trap, and let them feed in it for a few days or weeks...depending.

Also try some attractant, like diesel or used hydraulic or motor oil on a toe sack or some type of fabric wrapped around a tree of downed log. Make them get uses to the area and they will eventually let their guard down.

what you can do is tie the doors open put a little corn in the trap.

this way they will get used to the trap there. then after about 1-2 weeks close the doors. and start trapping.

I think when you shoot hogs in a trap they release a scent[fear] or something like that because my experince is it takes a week or two for the hogs to come back!

Man how long have you've been hunting? Don't you know you gotta climb in there Tito Ortiz style and choke the living you know what out of him, at least that what I'd do. Try it and let me know how it goes.

you have 1 of two choices. shoot them and leave the trap open & bait it & let it calm down or get set up with a loading ramp and trailer so you can haul them off.
